“I’m so glad you’re back,” she murmurs from beneath me.

I chuckle.

“Me too,” I say as I gently nuzzle my nose against hers.

Then, I catch my breath and get up before helping her up off of the couch. We lock lips as I hold her in my arms. I step back and stare into her big brown eyes, and our naked bodies sway to the music playing on the stereo. Her moans were so loud that I’d forgotten it was even on.

“Sorry for taking you like that,” I say in a deep voice. “I know I was rough but I couldn’t wait.”

She smiles sweetly at me.

“No, it’s fine,” she murmurs with a smile. “I was actually thinking that I was lucky to be here.”

“Baby,I’mthe lucky one,” I reply, and I mean it. Ever since Kitty came into my life, the world seems so much better. She’s the best thing that has ever happened to me. “Being away from you felt like torture.”

“It was the same way for me, too,” she says as she buries her face in my chest. “I cried so much the day you left, Eric.” I lift her face and look into her eyes. “You didn’t even say goodbye.”

A pang of guilt makes my heart clutch.

“I know, and I’m sorry. I’m back now, and I’ll never leave you again,” I say.

“Do you promise?” Kitty asks, pulling back to gaze into my eyes.

“I promise,” is my low reply. “I missed you too much, sweetheart.” She smiles then, making my heart melt, and I gently caress her cheek with my thumb. This woman is just so damn beautiful, and she completes me. I wish I could just come out and tell the world that she's mine, but so many things stand between us: my father, her job, my family lineage, and about a million other things.

But at the same time, I'm tired of living my life for the crown. Kitty makes me happy, and I can't see myself with any other woman but her. I wouldn't trade what we have for the world; I wouldn’t even trade it for the Chromian throne.

I close my eyes and gently stroke her curls. Out of this room, I have to be the Prince of Chromia, but when I’m here with her, I get to be Eric. With her, I'm just a normal person. She isn't after my money or the throne; she only wants my heart. She's the most genuine person I've ever met, and I'm so glad she came into my life.

But at that moment, Kitty steps back from our embrace.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, immediately alarmed. “Did I hurt you?”

She giggles.

“No, not at all. I’m just kind of hungry,” she smiles. My stomach growls, and we both laugh then.

“I guess I am too,” I chuckle. Our impromptu lovemaking session made me forget all about dinner, and I grab her hand and walk her over to a table in the corner before turning to wink.

“Lucky for you, sweetheart, I already ordered a meal for us.”

Then, I seat her on a chair, and sweep open the silver dome on one of the platters with a flourish.

“Mmm, it looks tasty,” Kitty remarks as she stares at the entree.

“It’s my favorite – Peking duck,” I say before taking a seat across from her. I stare at this woman in the candlelight, watching as she helps herself to the crispy meat, soft bread roll, and savory paste. She takes a bite and immediately moans with delight.

“Mmmm,” Kitty says with a happy sigh. “But aren’t you going to eat?” she asks. “This is delish.”

“In a second,” I say. “I just want to admire your beauty first.” She smiles as she pushes her curly locks behind her ears.

“Oh Eric, you flatter me.”

“Not at all,” I growl. “You’re a feast for the eyes, sweetheart.”

At that, Kitty reaches across the table and grabs ahold of my hand. Her touch is the warmest that I've ever known, and I don't want this feeling to go away. I kiss her hand gently with the promise of forever on my lips because all of my life, I've been told that I'm destined to be King, but I think my real destiny lies with her.
