She kissed my neck after her release and that was all she wrote for me. I lost all control of my muscles, thrust a few more times, and released myself. I couldn’t help but kiss her afterward, so passionately. I wasn’t trying to fall in love or anything, but the passion between us was so intense that I felt I might.

“We are terrible,” she laughed as she hugged me. “We should get dressed and get back out to the party. Before Casey finds us and kills us both.”

“Yeah. She was already saying something about the way I looked at you out there,” I chuckled. “She says I'm too old to be checking out a woman her age.”

“Women my age prefer older men. The men I’ve dated in the past were close in age with me and things never worked out. I think I'm mature enough to handle a man in his forties. Now, fifties and sixties,” she chuckled, “I’m not so sure about.”

I laughed but continued to hold her in position. I didn’t want to let her go. I wanted to stay locked together for as long as I could hold her there, just to savor the feeling of the best quickie I’d ever had.

Chapter Seven

Ariane

MybathroomexperiencewithLogan was bittersweet. When I had accepted this job, I never intended to sleep with Logan, not only because he was my boss but also because he was the father of my abusive ex. But he’d put me in a difficult situation when he asked me to look him in the eyes and say I didn’t want him. I couldn’t lie about my feelings for him.

He was nothing like Lucas. For some reason, I felt so safe in his arms. He was gentle, yet he knew what he wanted. He was very well-endowed and knew precisely how to use his tool to make me squirm. I wished we had been in a more private setting and had the legroom to switch to different positions, but the quickie had worked just as well. I was a little worried about how we would interact with each other the following morning at work, though.

“Some party last night, huh?” Casey met me in my office first thing.

“It was.” I smiled, hoping she didn’t sniff out any traces of her father's cologne, even though I’d already showered. “I really enjoyed myself last night.”

I’d enjoyed more than just the party. I had enjoyed the long strokes of stiffness from a man I had no business fooling around with in the first place.

“So, what’s on the agenda for today? You've already been here a week and I haven't heard nearly as many complaints as I would have with anyone else. Must be doing good?”

“Well,” I said, waking up my iPad, “I have breakfast ordered and on its way. I took care of the dry cleaning on my way here. I'll be going out at lunchtime to drop off the floor plans for the inspector downtown. I have to get the times for Logan’s afternoon meeting and run a few errands in between. Everything is pretty much squared away for the day.”

“Well, well, well!” She beamed. “Look at you on a serious roll this morning.”

I was on a roll. If only Casey knew what had me so amped up, she would probably barf right there in front of me. I felt bad for keeping such a secret from her, but it was mine and Logan’s to share.

My task list that day wasn’t nearly as intimidating as it had been my first few days. Until I learned who the building inspector was for Logan’s latest project. It was his ex-wife. She was a very beautiful woman. Tall, slender, with long blonde hair that flowed gracefully in the wind. She had the most beautiful set of green eyes too. They sat perfectly slanted on her face to compliment her slim nose, and she had the fullest set of lips I’d ever seen on a white woman before cosmetic adjustments. It was hard for me to understand why she and Logan were divorced, because they were both gorgeous and I imagined they looked great together. Then again, looks meant nothing if the souls weren’t attached.

“Hello there.” The woman smiled when I walked in. “Mr. Taylor’s new assistant?”

“Yes.” I smiled and nodded. “Good morning.”

I stood at her office door holding the large tube that contained the floor plan for Logan’s latest project, and it dawned on me that the entire family worked the same trade. That was a rare find.

“How long have you been with Logan?”

She spoke as she approached me to collect the tube, and my guilty conscience got the best of me. I was under the impression that as his ex-wife, she could somehow sense that Logan and I had been intimate.

“Huh?” I asked, to confirm I’d heard her correctly.

“How long have you been working for Logan?” she repeated, as if she were just as lost as I was.

“Oh!” I quickly chuckled, hoping I hadn’t given myself away. “Just a week.”

Her confused face shifted into a seemingly all-knowing smile as she nodded her head and took the tube from my hands. I cursed myself on the inside, knowing she had picked up the ball I’d dropped, and hoped she wouldn't mention anything to Logan.

“Well, my ex-husband is a tough guy to please. Very demanding and runs through assistants like he does underwear. Watch yourself with him. He possesses the power to burn anyone out before they even realize it.”

“Thank you.” I smiled slightly. “He is a tough one. I’ll try and keep that in mind. Is there anything else you need from me? Should I relay any messages or anything?” I asked, as I prepared myself to pull out my iPad and make a note.

“Oh no, sweetie. No need for all that. If I need anything else, I’ll contact Logan directly. That's all. Thank you.”

Although Margot’s smile was in a friendly position on her face, her tone was very condescending, and I was highly offended by it. Her calling me “sweetie” made me feel as if she were talking to her daughter or something. However, I clutched my purse over my shoulder, bid her a great afternoon and headed back to my routine.
