"Any questions?" Fynn asked his people. When no one responded, he turned his attention to Dani. "Did you bring them?"

Dani stepped forward with a bundle of fabric. "They might be a little big, but they should be fine."

He assessed the pile, then turned his gaze to Kallie and Myra. "Take them to the tent, but be quick about it."

Dani cocked her brow, unmoving. The two Pontians stared at each other as though some invisible battle was playing out between them.

Fynn shifted on his feet. "Please," he mumbled.

Dani smiled. "I'd be delighted to help our guests." She then strolled over to Myra and handed her a stack of clothes. Dani then approached Kallie.

Reluctantly, Kallie brought her hands up and Dani placed the clothes on her arms.

"Let's go." Without another glance, Dani headed toward the last tent standing and Graeson tugged Kallie's arm, jerking her forward.

Kallie edged closer to Myra as they followed Dani. "Are you all right, Myra? Are you hurt?"

Myra shook her head.

"Whatever happens, it will be fine. I promise," Kallie said.

Myra's shoulders shook and Kallie wanted to reach out for her friend, but she couldn’t. Before she knew it, Graeson was pushing them inside the tent. Myra scurried under the flap, but Kallie halted when she felt Graeson's fingers still wrapped around her arm. Kallie raised a brow. "Must you follow me everywhere?"

"Modest are we, little mouse?" Graeson asked. And unfortunately for her, it seemed the new nickname was staying.

Kallie tilted her head to the side and gave Graeson a once-over. "Fine, stay. But do not forget, I am engaged."

Graeson scrunched his nose in disgust, and Kallie shrugged as she walked forward.

Once inside, Graeson released her. From the corner of her eye, Kallie saw Graeson turn around to face the tent flap. Her gaze dipped lower and the outline of her dagger beneath his shirt caught her eye. It would be easy to—

"Come on, Princess. We don't have all day." Dani folded her arms across her chest, sneering at Kallie.

Meanwhile, Myra had already stripped down to her slip and was beginning to change into the borrowed clothes.

The rope around Kallie's wrist itched beneath the weight of the strange clothes. "It's going to be difficult with my hands tied."

Dani scoffed, but she reached inside her brown leather jacket and pulled out a small knife. Folding the clothes underneath her arm, her fingers wrapped around Kallie's wrist. "Don't do anything stupid." Then Dani cut the rope in one smooth movement.

Kallie locked eyes with Myra, and Myra shook her head, pleading. As much as it pained her to remain civil in front of her captors, Kallie knew she was outnumbered and vulnerable. There was no point in trying anything. Not now anyway. She looked at Dani and gave the sweetest smile she could bring to her lips.

"Hurry up." Dani shoved the clothes back into Kallie's arm.

Kallie sat the clothes down on the ground and removed her mangled dress. Then she grabbed the new shirt and held it out in front of her, inspecting it.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Shall I go run to the local seamstress instead?" Dani sneered.

Kallie huffed in dismay but began changing into the clothes. Although they were ill-fitting, they were better than her soiled dress. "This wouldn't have been an issue if you had just gathered our things when you so kindly kidnapped us," Kallie mumbled as she buttoned the slim trousers.

"We didn't need the extra baggage," Graeson said from behind her. And then added, "Two women are already more than we bargained for."

Kallie ignored him as she rolled up the hems of each pant leg to prevent herself from tripping over them. She didn’t want to give him another reason to get rid of Myra, something he seemed very prone to doing last night. She could make do without her own clothes if it meant Myra was alive.

After tucking the front of the shirt into the waistband, she threw her boots back on. Not the best she had ever looked, but it was better than the mud-covered dress.

"All set, Princess?" Dani tapped her foot.

When Kallie grunted in confirmation, Graeson grabbed her hands before she had the chance to undo her hair. He then made quick work of retying her hands.
