FinnG: Is this on?

PCoop: Yes. I’m glad we were able to connect.

FinnG: Same.

PCoop: I’m loving your book.

FinnG: Glad it doesn’t suck.

PCoop: Of course not. I think it’s pretty interesting. Thrillers fascinate me. Is this the only genre you write in?

FinnG: I’m currently writing a sci-fi book.

PCoop: Please send it over when you finish it. That’s how this company started, with sci-fi books.

PCoop: Speaking of which, I’d like to discuss this anonymity issue and your plot. Our CEO is reading it along with me, and he would like to know how open you are to making some changes to the storyline.

FinnG: Were you able to pronounce the word anonymity as you typed it?

PCoop: Ha!

PCoop: No, I always stumble over the letters.

PCoop: Moving on to what matters. What do you want to accomplish with this book?

FinnG: Honestly, I don’t know. I wrote it while browsing my father’s library and couldn’t find a book I wanted to read.

PCoop: You didn’t find one, so you wrote one?

FinnG: How did you guess?

PCoop: That’s how some of the authors find their motivation to write. Would you be interested in creating a series based on this character?

FinnG: It could be done, but I don’t want an agent.

PCoop: We can handle this for you. I would have to chat with acquisitions.

PCoop: You seem to know a lot about MI6 and the FBI. What if our hero has his own company instead of working for them?

FinnG: A lot has to change from the first draft, but it’s doable. If he has his own company, he would need a crew.

PCoop: Would you be open to including some romantic elements in the plot?

FinnG: I’m not versed in that genre. I would have to study it and see what I can do. Do you have any suggestions?

PCoop: Your hero is a retired SEAL working for the FBI. What if, instead of joining an agency, he created the company with someone in his platoon?

FinnG: I can see that. They reunite, work on a mission, and decide to start a company.

PCoop: Something like that but with more depth.

FinnG: Where does the romance come in?

PCoop: I’m emailing you a few craft books that focus on romance but also a few thrillers with romantic elements.
