I knew someone else would do the job for me, and his blood wouldn’t be on my hands.

I cross my legs. “Speaking of dangerous men, any info on the Lombardi situation?”

He sighs and kicks his feet onto his desk. “Vincent Lombardi won’t take my calls.”

“Did you try a burner?”

He glares at my questioning him. “Yes.”

“Dodging calls screams guilt.” I scratch my forehead.

“It does, but even when I’ve been on bad terms with Vincent, he’s always answered my calls.”

“Do you think it was him who interrupted our wedding?”

“Him or someone who works for him.”

“Raul is tracking their men. We’ve killed two more so far.”

Lombardi will want to kill us just for that.

He nods. “In the meantime, lie low.”

I crack my knuckles and move my neck from side to side, releasing tension. “I can’t lie low until I’ve killed a man for my wife.”

“Happy wife, happy life.” He drops his feet from his desk. “Kill the man and then bring her flowers.”

“When did you get so romantic?”

“I’m not romantic.” He taps the side of his head. “I’m smart.”

When I walkinto Paradise Gentlemen’s Club, the smell of cheap cologne and smoke whacks me in the face. The clock hasn’t struck noon, but a few men are sitting alone at tables with their eyes on the woman dancing naked onstage.

“Hey, at least the scenery is nice on the job today,” Luca comments as we stroll toward the back of the club.

The bouncer, a man with a bulging stomach, whose attention was on his phone, didn’t even stop us at the door. Unfortunately, that luck doesn’t follow me when I reach the door leading to the back hallway. I bribed a stripper and her drug addict boyfriend to provide me with the club’s layout after Raul informed me Sammie was a silent partner here.

Silent partner, my ass.

According to my sources, Sammie spends nearly all his free time here.

“Hey, man—” the guy guarding the door yells, but his words are cut off by me slamming my fist in his face. He teeters back before collapsing against the wall and groaning.

I kick his foot away that was blocking the door and walk into Sammie’s office. Surprised, he pushes a pigtailed, naked blonde off his lap. She falls to her knees, and he straightens his tie to gain his composure.

“Excuse us,” he tells her, smacking her ass when she stands.

She nods, her gaze shooting from Luca to me. As she passes Luca, she runs her hand down his chest and arm. She tries the same with me, but I step around her and shake my head.

She has no idea the chaos she’d cause if I went home to my wife with even a hint of smelling like another woman. Sammie would have an even bigger problem because she’d kill him and burn down the club.

“Are you here to pay your brother-in-law’s debt?” he asks, running a hand down his wrinkled shirt.

I grind my teeth, wanting to kill him for that question alone, and draw my Glock from my pocket.

He rolls back in his chair. “Benny, I didn’t kill Tommaso.”
