The other is nearly shaking.

I slip my hands into my pockets. “All right, this place smells like a dirty gym bag, so I’d prefer to figure this out rather quickly.” I motion between the two of them. “Which one of you killed Tommaso Cavallaro?”

Sometimes, I enjoy playing games with my victims.

I want to get it over with right now so I can leave.

I blow out an exaggerated breath. “One of you had better talk, or I’m going to eeny, meeny, miny, moe which twin’s head I should blow off.”

Neither of them cracks.

I raise my gun to the head of the one on the right.

That sure gives me a response.

“He slept with his girlfriend, man,” the guy with the gun pointed at his head stammers, jerking his head toward his brother.

I’ve never had a man break so easily.

“Shut your fucking mouth, Mikey,” the other guy—who I can now assume is Brian—yells at his brother.

“What?” Mikey asks Brian. “They’re here. We’re busted.” He snarls at his brother, “I told you not to fuck with the Marchettis, and now, look where we are!”

“Tommaso wasn’t a Marchetti,” Brian hisses. “He deserved to die.”

I can’t help but laugh. “You killed him because he’d slept with your girlfriend?”

A glare smears across Brian’s face. “He slept with my girlfriend, and then when I told him I would kill him for that, he slept with our mother!”

Brian clenches his fist, and I wonder if he’ll try to fight me. But he remains in place. His hate is toward Tommaso. Not me.

I mean, he should hate me.

I’m going to kill him.

He just doesn’t know it yet.

“I had no choice but to kill him, Benny.” He straightens his shoulders. “Tommaso didn’t even like you. He talkedmad shitabout you, bro.”

Mikey eagerly nods. “Tommaso said the Marchettis were weak and you’d never make a good boss. He said as soon as he took over, he was ending you.”

I don’t even bother taking the bait from these motherfuckers.

Their opinions mean nothing to me.

“He was an asshole, wasn’t he?” I say, lightening the tone of my voice. “Honestly, I don’t even care he’s dead.”

Brian’s shoulders ease.

Mikey stops his nail-biting.

I sit on the chair beside them, draping an arm along the back. “So, which one of you pulled the trigger? Killed the stupid bastard?”

They exchange nervous glances.

“Look, how about this?” I lean forward and twirl my gun around my fingers. “I’ll only kill one of you. That’ll make it easier for your family.”

Brian attempts to jump off the couch, but Luca shoves him back down.
