“I need your connections.” Antonio pinches the bridge of his nose, his face consumed with worry. “Out of respect for your father, Severino has cut off all relations with my family. That includes selling us firearms. I need you to convince Severino to change his mind and help me out.”

I drop my feet, lean forward, and plant my elbows on the desk. “Even if they didn’t cut you off then, do you think they’d sell anything to a Lombardi after one shot their daughter, you fucking morons?”

Antonio grits his teeth.

He doesn’t accept disrespect, but he needs me.

He straightens his stance. “I’m here to make a deal. We have great connections overseas. I have multiple reps with banks the United States hasn’t even heard of. Any connection I have is all yours. Talk to your father and Severino. Help me out here.”

“But will those connections overseas be on your side or your uncle’s?” I furrow a brow and take a long swig of my bourbon. It’s smooth as it rolls down my throat.

Antonio clasps his hands together, and sweat builds along his hairline. “My uncle wants your family to pay for Vinny’s death. He will go after Natalia, Gigi, and Neomi if he has to. You will also go to war with my family if my uncle takes charge.”

“I’d better keep all those weapons connections for myself then, huh?”

“I have a daughter, Benny,” he says, his voice stressed. “She’s six, and she already doesn’t have a mother. I can’t leave her alone in this world.”

“I have no heartstrings for you to tug, Antonio. If that’s your plan B, it won’t work.” I shake my head and rest my glass on the coaster. “I suggest finding her somewhere to go because you’ll die if you don’t win.”

My statement is harsh, but I’m not one to sugarcoat shit.

Antonio probably already knows the truth of my words. He’s played this game long enough. It’s why he’s attempting to broker a deal with the Cavallaros and Marchettis. Antonio has always been the smartest of the three Lombardi sons. Vinny was dumb and reckless. Dante, the youngest and a rumored bastard, has yet to be seen publicly. He could be a tree stump for all I know.

Antonio is lucky I semi-like him.

Well, notlikehim.

I respect his smarts.

He’s always been logical and the easiest to work with.

And even though I want Lombardi blood, I don’t want it from him.

But I also won’t side with him.

Antonio tenses his jaw. “I guess we’ll all get ready for a game of bloodshed.”

“Can’t wait. Save me a seat.”

I peer down at my phone when it vibrates on my desk.

Neomi’s name and picture flash across the screen.

“I have another meeting to attend.” I straighten the collar of my shirt. “You can see yourself out.”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Antonio says, shaking his head while walking out.

I answer the FaceTime call when he shuts the door behind him.

Neomi appears on the screen. Her face is makeup-free, and her hair is thick and wild. She’s lying flat on her stomach in bed, giving me a mouthwatering view of her cleavage.

This is what my sneaky wife does when she wants me to return home.

She wears something sexy and calls me. She’ll flash her tits or a peek of her pussy, and I always come running.

She lowers her top and palms her breast.

“Neomi,” I groan. “I have a shit ton of paperwork—” I stop speaking when she collapses onto her back and lowers the phone between her legs.
