Cristian digs his phone from his pocket, unlocks it, and places it against his ear. He kicks his feet out and leans against the wall as he waits for an answer.
His brows scrunch together when he pulls it away from his face. “No answer.” His next call goes to their housekeeper, who tells him Gigi left an hour ago to come to the hospital, and she hasn’t been back.
Cristian thanks the housekeeper and checks Gigi’s car’s GPS location. His face turns pale. He drops his phone but manages to catch it before it falls to the ground.
“It’s showing she’s here.” He stares at the screen in confusion. “Her car is parked here.”
“I’ll check on it,” Benny says.
Cristian’s shoulders tense when he takes Enzo from Benny’s arms. We tell Enzo goodbye and rush out of the hospital room.
Something is wrong. I can feel it in my gut.
Gigi is the queen of having her phone.
Snow crunches beneath our feet in the parking lot as we search for Gigi’s white BMW. When we finally locate it, Benny uses his hand to wipe snow off the windshield and windows. It’s empty. The doors are unlocked. Benny opens the door to find her purse and phone in the driver’s seat.
“Motherfucker,” Benny yells, slamming her door shut. He takes his phone from his pocket and furiously smacks his fingers onto the screen before holding it against his ear. “Raul, hack into the hospital’s security cameras immediately. Gigi’s car is parked here—lot A—but she’s missing.”
Benny turns the car on and cranks up the heat while we sit inside, waiting. He calls his father and tells him what we found. Since he has the call on speaker, I can hear the fear in Cristian’s voice.
Natalia was kidnapped.
I was shot.
Who has Gigi, and what do they have in store for her?
Benny ends the call with Cristian when Raul beeps through.
“I’m sending you the footage now,” Raul tells him. “You’re not going to like this.”
“I’ll watch and call you back,” Benny says, ending the call.
I lean in, resting my elbow on the center console, and he opens the message from Raul. Benny plays the video, and I gasp at what I see.
Gigi gets out of her car at the same time a black car pulls behind her. With a truck in the spot in front of hers and the black car, she’s blocked in. Antonio Lombardi steps out of the driver’s seat and approaches her.
“I am going to kill this asshole,” Benny says while we watch.
Gigi and Antonio argue for five minutes, but there’s no audio for us to know what they’re saying. He points at his car. She shakes her head. They argue some more.
I release a loud gasp when he holds a gun to her head.
Right in the parking lot.
The balls on this man.
He walks her to the car, opens the passenger door, and motions for her to get in.
And once she does, he drives off.

Benny has calledthe contact number he has for Antonio nonstop since watching the footage of him taking Gigi.
From his cell, mine, and burners.
But no answer.
