Now, just to give her a little more incentive. I looked her up and down in tasteless appreciation, then raised a brow as though I were indifferent to what I saw. Then I smiled. Without words, I laid down a challenge.

She flinched. Her eyes narrowed. I knew she couldn’t walk away from a good challenge. Not when I had so thoroughly won the last one.

I bit my lip, the memory of her taste lingering on my tongue.

I’d taste her again. And I wouldn’t have to wait too long.

I made my gait relaxed and casual as I followed Sophie. As I walked past the threshold, that cheeky devil, my wonderful wing woman, gave one more seductive smile to Rose before slowly shutting the door. She might as well have given the vixen an engraved invitation.

I sat down on a red leather loveseat and spread my arm over the backrest.

“So your aim is to make her jealous, and what?” Sophie asked. “Have her tear your clothes off and rub her scent on you? Like a feral cat?”

“Oh, she is feral.” I moaned. “That’s why I want her.”

Sophie unscrewed the bottle top and poured a generous amount of Glenmorangie into my glass, then into her own.

“So when she barges in here,” she gestured with her glass to the door. “I suppose she’ll be taking over my glass.”

“No,” I corrected her, with a small raise of one brow. “She’ll be drinking from this one.” I raised my glass. “I will be drinking from her.”

Sophie fanned herself, smiling and pretending to blush.

“Mr. Green! You are absolutely scandalous.” She laughed, her voice like a wind chime. Then she draped herself across my lap, her arm raised over her head. “I suppose we should make ourselves appear as scandalous as possible, then.” Sophie fluttered her eyelashes at me.

“You are quite the deviant.” I teased her.

“I am,” she shrugged. “But I like the look on your face when you talk about her.” She smiled. “She might be the one for you.”

Chapter 25

Rose

Itappedmyfingeron the table. I had ordered a fresh drink, and the alcohol coursed through my veins.

He had lookedrightat me. I had pleaded without words for him to stay. To come to me. To take away this loneliness.

But instead, he slid his eyes up and down my body, dismissed me, then smiled. He followed that woman. That tall, perfect, blonde. Together, they were a perfect couple, sophisticated and rich, dripping with elegance.

What was I? A bastard gutter fighter from the Pilipino barrios.

But he smiled. It wasn’t a friendly smile. It wasn’t even a cruel one.

It was one that said, your move, Rose Marie.

If I followed, would he stop fucking her? Did he want me to follow? Was he trying to make me jealous? Was he fucking her right now?

He’s a dead man.

But then she smiled too. Her smile was an unmistakable invitation. Was she inviting me in? She must have been. It was the same smile Liesel had flashed me as she wiggled her ass into a bathroom, ready for a quickie.

Why was I debating? I was going to go after him, whether to fuck him or kill him. I wasn’t sure.

I rose from my seat. Brett had already paid long before he left to find his conquest for the night. It was only right that I looked for mine as well.

I stood and stomped to the door they had disappeared behind, twisted the knob and confidently walked in. I shut the door behind me and leaned back on it and took in the scene before me.

She lay across his lap, reclined, her shoulder blades on the armrest. They were smiling and laughing, each with a drink in hand. Her blonde hair was beautifully coming out of her coif, a few tendrils coming down over her shoulders.
