“No,” she said. “You can’t. I hadn’t thought of that.”

“I have,” he said. “I’ve expanded on the classes upstairs. I’ve got other personal trainers. Your yoga instructor that you put me in touch with is thrilled to have the few slots I can give her during the day.”

She grinned. “Wish I wasn’t working and could go to them. I liked her, but I’m not going to another gym. That would make me a traitor.”

He leaned in and kissed her. “She’d like a night class at some point if I can fit one in on a weekend. There is more time on the weekends, but for now we’ve got a routine.”

“I’m glad it’s working out for you,” she said.

“It’s no cost to me and a profit. It works more for them. They get a cut of the cost of the class.”

She liked how he structured his business. He was much smarter than most gave him credit for.

“I think it’s great you are expanding so much. Have you thought about martial arts classes?” she asked. “You train the fighters.”

“I have thought of it,” he said. “I need to look into some certifications, but it’s something else I think I’d rather add on at a more formal level than opening another gym.”

“That’s great. I’d take that class.”

“All the more reason for me to put a rush on it,” he said, winking. “Anyway, you asked about a house. My point is, that it’s more important to me to move forward in my personal life too. That’s the next step.”

“Your mother is going to be so happy,” she said, poking him in the side.

“I’m sure she will be,” he said. “You going to help me look?”

“Sure,” she said. “House hunting could be fun.”

He just looked at her but didn’t say anything else. She wasn’t going to jump on much more than that. It was his house and his money. He wasn’t asking her to buy it with him and she wouldn’t do that. She loved him, but she wasn’t making any kind of financial commitment without more.

She didn’t think that made her a bad person but more practical.

“Let’s open up our gifts then,” he said. “You bought the store out when I told you not to.”

“I like to shop. I didn’t get one big thing but lots of little things. We set a price limit and I stuck to it.”

It’d been her idea to make sure they were on the same page with that. Nothing like them being awkward if one went overboard and the other didn’t.

“If you say so,” he said. He was smirking at her and something told her that maybe he didn’t.

They moved to the tree and started to open gifts. She got him more clothes than anything. He didn’t have a lot and she knew that he had trouble finding things that fit and didn’t like to shop for anything other than gym wear. She bought him anything but that.

He’d had the same idea, but he actually got her gym clothes and joked that he liked to see her all decked out in fancy gear and know she was his.

In her eyes that was sweet and not controlling. Other women might not think that, but she didn’t care. It was the new attitude she was having.

“I filled a stocking for you too,” she said. “Just little things, but I like stocking stuffers.”

“You know I did the same,” he said, pulling his off the table to hand her.

She went through and opened up some nail polish and perfume. A little bit of makeup that she used that she found nice that he paid attention to. To the point he got the shade right on her foundation so that meant he actually looked at it.

“How long did it take you to find this?”

“Not long,” he said, looking at her bottle of liquid in her hand. “I snapped a picture of it and then matched it up in the store. I thought you could keep it here if you want rather than bringing it all back and forth.”

Which told her he was planning this out long before he mentioned her staying more last night. “I can do that,” she said. She got to the bottom of the stocking and pulled out a box. “What’s this?”

“You won’t know until you open it.”
