Moments later, Bowtie reentered the room. Two very tall men flanked him. They looked familiar. Crap. It was Mr. No Smiles and Mr. Tattoos. They stood there, arms crossed, looking sexy as hell. The other entrants all whispered and pointed at them. Yea, they were hot.

“Ninety-nine, excuse my earlier outburst.” Bowtie bowed. “I have conferred with the board. It seems it was a simple glitch. Since rules are rules, all three men can purchase you. Since it’s a glitch, you can walk away. But if you do, you will not receive twenty percent of all three bids.”

I choked on my spit—so much money. I tried doing the math in my head. My brain was floating—twenty percent of three million. I couldn’t say no.

Mr. No Smiles and Mr. Tattoos tapped their feet. They must have been on the board awaiting my answer. No Smiles, even yawned.

“It’s still only five years? All the rules apply?” I asked.

Bowtie looked at the other two men. They nodded. He turned back to me. “Yes.”

“Okay. I’ll do it.” I turned to go back to my chair and wait for my purchasers. At some point, all three of them would come to collect me.

“Ninety-nine, where are you going? Mr. Miller and Mr. Moore have purchased you. They request you leave immediately.” Bowtie waved at the two men.

Fuck, I thought they were on the board, not my purchasers. “Hold on, what happened to the third?”

Bowtie handed me an envelope and walked away.

I looked up at two of the men I would be spending the next five years with. I was royally fucked.

“Last time we met, it didn’t go so well. I’m Ethan.” Mr. Tattoos stuck out his hand.

“I’m Tristan.” Mr. No Smiles kept his arms crossed.

This was gonna be a long five years.

CHAPTER7

Purchaser 63 (Day 1)

I triedto run to her. Heat and smoke were so intense I could barely see her. The flames licked the walls, threatening to get me as well.

She sat in the middle of the room, legs crossed, watching the flames go higher. I tried to call out to her. If she heard me, she didn’t move.

The walls caved in, I screamed.

Sweat dripped down my face as I woke. It was always the same nightmare. Well, more like reliving the same night over and over.

Six years ago, a house caught fire. I happened to be walking by and noticed the woman in the window. I couldn’t reach her. I didn’t even know who she was. Years later and I had a reminder of her etched down to my soul.

“Adam. It’s two in the afternoon.” My best friend/butler barged into my room.

He was a beast of a man. I was confident he was part giant. His hair was stringy and stuck out all over his head. Some even came out of his ears. Most people were afraid of him. Me? I hired him.

“Do you have a point, Bri?” I got up and stretched my sore muscles.

“The nurse is here for your physical therapy.” Brian picked up my dirty clothes and tossed them in a nearby hamper.

“I don’t need PT.” I flexed my legs, bending at the knees as best as possible. The fire caused permanent damage to my legs. I still walked just fine.

“Your limp is getting worse. How are you ever gonna find a wife?” Brian continued to tidy up my room.

“I don’t want a wife. Plus, it’s not my limp that would bother a woman. It’s this.” I pointed to my face.

Bri waved me off as if I hadn’t said anything, then turned and left the room.

I sighed and hopped into the shower. Sometimes arguing with Bri wasn’t worth it. After I was fully awake, I would call and cancel PT.
