Dottie grabbed my arm and tried to pull me toward the doors.

Triple.

I turned.

“This is a bad idea,” Dottie whispered. “I’ll pick up extra shifts at the shop.”

Dottie had a gift for computer technology. She would dig around in trash cans of the rich and refurbish old computers and anything with a motherboard. Because of that, she had a part-time gig fixing them. It wasn’t the best-paying job because rich people would buy another one, and most homeless couldn’t afford them.

“There aren’t extra shifts,” I whispered to her. “I’ll do it!” I shouted to Von.

Everyone turned to me. Dottie groaned beside me. I slapped Dottie’s back. She crossed her arms and shook her head.

“We have an opponent!” Von pointed at me. The people parted to allow me access to the ring.

I adjusted my pink wig and walked toward the ring. It was part of my persona, which made total sense because I was all about pink. I mean, who wouldn’t be? A splash of color made everything better.

Two men in suits stood off to the side. I probably wouldn’t have noticed them, but they were half a foot taller than everyone around them. One had tattoos peeking out of his sleeves onto his hands. The other looked like he had never smiled.

They were both staring at me. Mr. Tattoos looked like he wanted to eat me, and not in a good way. Mr. No Smiles gave me a death stare. He probably had a burial plot in his basement waiting for some random girl to stumble into. Not me, mister.Iwould scratch your eyes out first, even if you are the sexiest man I have ever seen. Both of them were.

“You are too pretty to be stepping into that ring.” Mr. Tattoos winked.

I opened my mouth to reply when Dottie pushed me. She was the level-headed one. I swore Dottie took all the responsibilities, so I didn’t have to. She would make a great mother someday. Not me. I babysat once and lost the kid for two hours. But thanks to me, she had a killer manicure and eyeliner so sharp it could slice someone. It didn’t matter. Her mother was not happy.

She legit attacked me. I broke a nail, but I also broke her tooth. That’s when I learned I could fight.

“Now, entering the ring is a fan favorite. Five foot seven and one hundred forty pounds of pure pink happiness.” Von waved his hands at me.

I climbed under the rope and got into my corner.

“Gentlemen and the few ladies here. I see you, Greta.” Von winked at a lady in a bonnet and red dress. “I present to you, Pink Puncher!”

Cheers and hoots swam through the crowd. I soaked it all in. Yeah, Big Booty Judy was undefeated, but the people loved me.

I weaved and bobbed as she came at me. My fist got her square in her unglossed lip. In response, she grinned, showing bloody teeth, and approached me again. The fight lasted thirty-seven seconds.

Blocking her hit would have been helpful. I tried, really. She was fast. Her punch caused stars, and I hit the mat.

CHAPTER2

Ava

Dottie was there pullingme up before I could get my bearings. I reached out to grab the rope and missed. Before my face could slam into the mat again, two strong arms wrapped around me.

A man lifted me and carried me away from the ring. The crowd was cheering for Judy. It was a good hit, but damn, it hurt. Luckily, my wig was still on my head. The thing cost an arm and a leg and was one of my favorite things I owned. At least I got six hundred bucks, which took less than a minute.

“There is a room in the back,” Dottie whispered to whoever was carrying me.

I tried to open my eyes to see who it was, but my head was pounding, and the lights were bright. Honestly, I was grateful someone was carrying me. I didn’t want to walk. It would take me a week to heal from this. Which meant I would be suitable to fight when the club was open next week.

We entered the dressing room, and someone placed me on the bench. Dottie grabbed a cup of water and held it to my lips. Most of it dribbled down my mouth.

“Told you, you are too pretty to be in that ring,” someone said.

I looked up and saw the fuzzy image of a tall man covered in tattoos. It was Mr. Tattoos, and right next to him was Mr. No Smiles. What the heck were they doing in here?

“Fuck off,” I mumbled. I just wanted to get my money and get out of here.
