He was almost convincing. If I didn’t know Ava, I would believe him. Maybe.

“Lies. Now here is how this is gonna go. Every single thing you have ever done to Ava is gonna be done to you.” I grinned,

Brad cried and blubbered. Snot ran down his face. When we got to the house, Tristan and I dragged him down to the basement. Daryl opened doors for us and never asked any questions. We reached the cell, and Brad fought back. It didn’t do any good. Both of us were stronger than him. His hits were weak and cowardly at best.

Inside the cell, I had Tristan hold him down. With my pocket knife that was attached to my keychain, I made good on my promise. On his hip, I carvedAPMMG. Ava Palmer Moore Miller Gould.

CHAPTER32

Adam (Day 5)

Ava sat as far awayfrom me as possible in the limo. She acted as if I would be bothered by it. It was refreshing. I had expected her to try and berate me for having Vernon/Brad at the restaurant.

I expected the interaction to go differently. Brad was supposed to approach the table so I could see her reaction. Then Brad accosted her by the bathroom. At least it proved that Brad and Judith were lying about Ava. I still didn’t like her, but at least she wasn’t a bad person.

Buzz. Buzz.

Tristan

We will be by later to collect Ava, and you can explain what the fuck that was bout.

She can stay the night.

No.

She’ll be fine.

She has trouble sleeping. We will get her.

You think being in the house you kill her ex in will help her sleep?

We aren’t killing him.

Even more reason.

“You’re sleeping at my place.” I scooted closer to Ava.

“No, I’m not.” She huffed and turned away from me.

“Don’t be a brat.” I looked away from her. Ava’s beauty was captivating, and I refused to be caught in it.

“Ha. I’m being a brat? Why? Because I don’t want to stay at your house? You are in cahoots with my ex. I want nothing to do with you,” she spat.

“I’m not in cahoots with anyone.” I racked my hand across my face. “What happened tonight was an accident.”

“Accident?” she screeched. “An accident is filling your nails too short or applying too much blush. This was on purpose.”

Brian pulled into the driveway, and Ava jumped out of the car. I followed after her. Instead of going to the front door like anyone else would have done, she plopped onto the curb. The girl was the definition of a brat. If I liked her, I would have bent her over my knee and taught her a lesson.

I walked right past her into the house. She couldn’t stay out there all night. Brian, on the other hand, stayed out there with her. Why did he have to be so caring?

Two hours later and they were both still out there. Rain smacked against the window that I was watching them from. Brian hopped up and darted inside, the rain bothered him. Ava didn’t budge. It wouldn’t take her long before she was tired of getting rained on and came inside.

Ring. Ring.

“Hi, Grandpa,” I answered the phone.

“Got my proof?” he asked.
