Bishop

“What the hellare you guys doing?!”

“Nothing,” I grunt looking up at her. Fuck, there’s something so hot about her glaring at me like that. She’s got her hands balled on her hips and a scowl on her pretty face.

“You’re friends,” she says tightly, her voice breaking a little. Tanner and I both shrug. We don’t look at each other.

Cora’s face falls. “This is my fault.”

“Fuck, no. Cora…” I groan.

“Yeah, it is,” she whispers. Tanner starts to stand and open his mouth, but she shakes her head.

“Fine. I kissed you both last night, okay? And I’m sorry, and I’m not sure why I’m so crazy, but I did.” She sighs heavily. “So, I’m going to go.”

“The hell you are,” we both manage to growl at the same time.

“Bishop saw us,” she says quietly. She turns to look at Tanner.

He frowns. “What?”

“Just now, in the kitchen,” she mumbles. “He… he came in and saw us.”

Tanner growls deeply and turns to glare at me. “You watched?”

I nod. He eyes me, but he says nothing. Just then, his cell rings. He’s still glaring at me when he answered it gruffly.

“Yeah?”

His face instantly tenses. His eyes dart between Cora and I.

“Yep, got it,” he grunts. “I said fine. I’ll be there.” He hangs up and glances at me.

“What?”

“Marvin, from the station. He wants to talk to me about the gun.” He frowns.

“You got your story, right?”

He nods. “Are they going to find anything against it at the house?”

I furrow my brow, thinking. “If they’re looking for it specifically, maybe. But I don’t think they will.”

“What about Millbrook?”

“He bought what I had to say about it,” I grunt. “We had a chat last night.” I frown. But then I decide not to tell Tanner about seeing Kip Clausterman there too.

“What?”

“Nothing. Forget it.”

“Tell me what I might be walking into here, Bishop,” he mutters.

I sigh. “Fuck it, fine. Clausterman was there.”

Tanner’s face darkens with anger. “At the station?”
