He stands, but I frown when Katrina and I stand with him. “Am I still being investigated?”

He shakes his head and laughs. “It wasn’t even you, Micheal. They thought one of your gardeners had connections to a cartel in Mexico.”

I frown. “Does he?”

“No,” Salvestro shrugs and smiles. “It is the FBI, what can you say? My friend says all they got was some recording from your garden cottage. It showed nothing of interest to their investigation.”

Katrina glances at me. Her face reddens. I grin and wonder exactly what the goddamn FBI may have heard in that cottage…

We walk out with Don Salvestro to his waiting car. I slide my arm around my wife, and we both wave as he drives off. I take a deep breath. I turn and smile at the woman of my dreams.

“So, should we stay married?”

Katrina sighs and frowns. “Gee, I’m not sure now. If the investigation is over, maybe we could just call the whole thing off?”

“Sounds right.”

“Yeah, I mean I can’t think of any other reason for us to be married, can you?”

I grin. “Would the fact that I’m in love with you count?”

She smiles widely. Her eyes shimmer. “Yes, it would,” she whispers.

“How about the fact that I want to drag you back inside, rip your clothes off, and keep going with what we were doing before? Would that count?”

Katrina’s face reddens. But I see the lusty hunger in her eyes. She chews on her lip and nods slowly. “Yes, it would,” she purrs. “Sir.”

I groan. “Oh, now you’re in trouble.”

She giggles when I scoop her up. I toss her over my shoulder and march inside. Apparently, the FBI isn’t listening anymore. But if they are, they’re about to get a goddamn earful.
