So, an issue.

An issue for tomorrow, though. Or next week. Or if I was lucky, next month.

“North’s scars are actually something called brands. They mark her as ultra-powerful,” Dots added helpfully. “So there are an assload of male fae who want her right now. She lied about being in love with Priel for the past year and a half to shut that down.”

January’s eyebrows shot up way into her forehead, and she looked at me. “Seriously?”

“Unfortunately.” I grimaced.

Much of my grimacing was because my lie about Priel hadn’t actually been a lie, and I felt kind of shitty for lying about lying, as ridiculous as that sounded.

“Damn.”

“Yeah. I’ll figure something out. I’m sure I’ll come up with some way to fix the situation somehow,” I said.

“Or we can just mate now and make things simple,” Priel growled at me.

“Sure, if we want to start a war with the seelies before the unseelies take a stab at us,” I shot back.

“Sounds worth it to me.” He flashed me a feral grin.

I scowled. “You’re dead in every violent vision I’ve seen, so you should probably change your tune.”

“All of these bastards are too happy to go to war. They need something to focus on that isn’t four single chicks and fighting,” January said with a sigh.

“Threesingle chicks,” Priel corrected, tugging me closer.

“We still haven’t agreed on that,” I grumbled back.

“Not shoving a fae dude away from you is usually enough agreement for them.” January grinned at me. “You’ll get used to it.”

Shit, I hoped so.

Because I still had the most ridiculous fluttering in my stomach every time Priel touched me. Or looked at me. Or… pretty much did anything, honestly.

“Youdohave to come with us to talk to the Tame Queen, regardless of whatever you two figure out,” January said, waving a hand toward me.

“There’s no way around that,” I agreed.

Priel growled again, releasing me and standing smoothly. His fists clenched, flames engulfing the tensed skin, ink, and muscles as he began pacing the room.

“I think we’ll give you guys a minute to talk,” January said, eyeing the pissed-off hound.

She and Calian stepped away, and the other girls followed them out. Dots gave me a thumbs-up and Sunny, a saucy grin.

The door closed behind them, and it was just me and Priel.

I bit my lip, not sure what to say. I definitely wasn’t getting up off of my bed unless I figured that one out. The bed was safe, since Priel currently wasn’t on it.

The hound continued to pace, his body tense and his expression furious.

My stomach clenched when I realized that one of the paintings featuring a strip of his abdomen and tattoos would be directly within his line of sight if he looked up from the tile he was glaring down at. It blended in with the colors of the gory picture I’d hidden it on the edge of, but it was undeniably Priel.

Don’t look up.

Don’t look up.

Don’t look u—
