I didn’t know them well enough to really say.

The fae men danced their asses off too, despite the rope binding their hands. I refused to let myself look around for Ervo, because I’d already seen him in the sky, watching from above.

It was time to get my flirt on, though.

I was determined to do this.

Sunny and Dots were running the entrance, tying hands and letting people in. Despite Sunny’s excitement, she hadn’t seemed to have any desire to join the dancing crowd, just beaming at her creation from the side.

North was grinding up against Priel off to one side, and they both seemed to be enjoying the party tremendously. January and Lian were in a similar position, though she was staying far away from the wine since we had no idea how it would affect her baby.

And… I was putting this shit off.

Taking a deep breath, I turned toward the crowd, and forced myself to head straight into it.

The men outnumbered the women insanely, so it wasn’t hard to find one of them.

I put a hand on the shoulder of the first one I found, and unconsciously looked up at the sky.

The unfamiliar fae man turned toward me with a grin, following my gaze as his smile grew knowing. “Ervo’s been obsessed with you for a while,” he called out to me. “And you stare at him just as much as he stares at you.”

“I didn’t know anyone had noticed,” I admitted, having to yell over the music.

He laughed. “We’re hopeful, but not stupid.”

I smiled sheepishly. “Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize.” He shrugged playfully. “It is what it is.”

My smile became a grin. “Would you mind if I danced with you to make him jealous? As long as you don’t touch me, I don’t think you’ll be in any danger.”

He laughed again, louder. “Hell yes. I’ve never seen him lose his cool! Bet I’ll get a kick out of it!”

I laughed too. “Probably!”

I’d learned how to dance ballroom-style as a kid and teenager, but it wasn’t as if I could drag the fae man right into an elegant waltz. Everyone else was just sort of shaking their ass or rubbing up against each other, which seemed awkward, so I wasn’t really interested in it.

Then, as if on cue, the booming music became a slow, vibrant love song.

I glanced over at the entrance, and found Sunny grinning like a madwoman, giving me a thumbs-up.

Another laugh escaped me, but I set my hands on the fae’s shoulders, stepping up close so our chests brushed.

Waltzing was out, but I could just hold onto his shoulders and sway like it was a high school prom.

A roar echoing through the trees above us had me grinning wildly, and the fae in front of me too.

“How long do you think we have before he dives down and tries to eat me?” the man I was dancing with yelled.

I couldn’t even answer; I was grinning too widely.

The stone walls around us moved, stretching up higher and higher. They rapidly formed a dome, shutting us off from the rest of the world, and I noticed a line of fae men along the sides of it, working under Sunny’s orders.

That chick was an evil genius.

“Guess someone’s got your back!” I yelled to the guy.

He just laughed.
