“You got me so amped up, babe.” Mamba buried his head in her neck, leaving little marks along her delicate skin.

“More than those other girls?”

He jerked his head up and glared. “Don’t ever compare yourself to them. And yeah, you got me so much more amped up.”

A sly smile covered her lips, and he realized she was testing him. Mandy increased the pressure of her hand gliding up and down his shaft, and his breath caught. A rumble that sounded more like a growl worked its way through his chest. He dug a hand into the pocket of his jeans, pulled out a condom, then lowered them over his hips.

Mamba’s bicep muscles bulged as he levered himself up, tore at the wrapper, and sheathed himself with Mandy’s help.

He stared into her eyes. “You’re with me, right?” Mamba had to ask like he still couldn’t believe his good fortune.

“Yes, yes.” Her breathy answer was filled with desire.

He nudged Mandy’s knees further apart and eased between her thighs. Taking it slow, he worked his way into her, letting her feel every inch and loving the sensation of her tight body. He reached around and cupped her ass, bringing her closer while finding his rhythm. Mandy’s legs entwined with his as they moved together. Mamba shifted forward, and when she gasped, he knew he’d hit her spot. He ground deeper and she moaned louder. Each sound made him harder, bringing him closer to the edge until they were dangling off a cliff, one step from cascading into the unknown.

CHAPTERTWELVE

Mamba collapsed to Mandy’s side, his arm still wrapped around her waist, their legs still entwined. The musk from their sex surrounded them along with their labored breathing. They lay like that for a few long minutes until Mandy shifted slightly. She wanted to see his face and to reach out to him.

She cupped Mamba’s jaw, and his eyes opened with lazy contentment. His hard, rugged features softened under the glow of their sex. It amazed Mandy that a man so rough could be equally as gentle and caring in bed. He worked her body with a genuine concern for her pleasure. Not once did he make her feel rushed or uncomfortable—he gave as much as he received.

“I love looking at your face,” she whispered.

“You like scarred-up bad boys.” His light tone belied his insecurities that surfaced at the oddest times.

“I like you, but you’re so much more than what you see in the mirror.”

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, babe, but I gotta say, you make me want to be better, do better.”

“I’m happy about that, but you have to want those things for yourself too.”

“I know, but somehow I always manage to screw things up, especially the good things in my life. That’s why when I’m with you—”

“You’re not going to screw anything up with me.” Mandy propped herself up on her elbows. “You being here in Searchlight and away from Vegas is perfect.”

He threaded his fingers through her hair, loving how it curled at the ends. “How so?”

“We’re away from Ajax and his disapproval, and even from the Serpents.”

“True.”

“You said that Cobra was against us being together too, right?”

“Yeah, but does that mean you wanna keep us a secret?”

“Maybe for now until we see where we’re headed. No use getting them all worked up for nothing.”

“Makes sense, but no matter what either one of them says, I’m not giving you up.” Mamba cuddled her to him, kissing the soft skin at the side of her neck. “I don’t have another fight until next week, so stay tonight. We’ll do something tomorrow. Just you and me.”

Mandy nodded, floored by his willingness to commit past the first night. Most men she dated couldn’t commit to a text or a callback, yet this outlaw biker seemingly wanted to move forward. Whateverforwardmeant.

She hated lying, especially to Ajax. Deep in her heart, she knew her brother had no right telling her what to do, but he’d been a surrogate father figure for so long that the image was hard to shake. At twenty-two, she longed to be independent, but it scared her at the same time.

Mamba was almost ten years older, and although the age difference didn’t bother her, he was much more experienced in life than she was. He hadn’t opened up about his past, but she knew his reputation and, of course, that he’d gone to prison.

Ajax would never forgive Mamba for the fight with Achilles and the aftermath no matter how Mandy pleaded. She was sure about that, but the magnetic pull she felt around Mamba was impossible to ignore. Her teenage crush turned into a reality—a living, breathing, muscled reality she couldn’t ignore.
