“Seeing her, fucking her, and loving every minute of it.” He enjoyed the tick in Joker’s jaw. “And just so you know, I have no intentions of giving her up. Not for her abusive, fuck-up of a brother or for guys who Ithoughtwere my brothers.”

“You do realize the whole reason we sent you down here was to get you out of Vegas and away from her.”

Mamba raised his palms. “Sometimes things just don’t work out the way we planned.”

“That fuckin’ smartass attitude is what gets you in the shit every time,” Joker said.

“What can I tell you?” Mamba shrugged like he didn’t give a shit, but his gut roiled with anger. “Why don’t I make this easy on all of us? You came down here to rag on me and give me shit, so why don’t we just cut to the chase? You wanna give me an ultimatum, right? Well, as I said before, I ain’t giving up Mandy.”

Cobra and Joker exchanged a look that Mamba couldn’t decipher. It wasn’t a surprise; these two bastards could read each other with a chin jerk or a nod.

“Actually, for once, your attitude is gonna work in your favor.” Cobra shifted his weight. “Ajax proposed a fight between you and him up in Vegas at their main spot—the Valley View warehouse.

“This asshole Ajax is gonna fight me for his sister? First of all, I could flatten him with one hand, and second, I’m not making Mandy the prize for some trumped-up, bullshit fight.”

“We know that and you know that, but this crazy fucker thinks he can take you, so why not play along? The main event, a packed house, all the Marauders and their followers, plus the Serpents and neighboring clubs. Lots of people, lots of cash to be made.”

Mamba barked out a harsh laugh. “And let me guess—the Serpents get the bulk of my cut.”

“We haven’t exactly figured out the percentages yet,” Joker added.

“You don’t have to worry about percentages 'cause I ain’t doin’ it.”

“Excuse me?” Cobra pushed away from the desk.

“You heard me. I ain’t fighting in a fuckin’ mashup 'cause a gangbanger doesn’t like me with his sister. Even if by some crazy fuckin’ chance he won, it won’t change anything between her and me.”

“You sure about that?” Cobra challenged. “From what I hear, Ajax rules his gang and his sister with an iron fist. He’s been calling the shots and telling her what to do all her life, so what makes you think she’d switch sides now?”

“I just know,” Mamba spat the words out fast, but he couldn’t deny the niggle of doubt swimming through his gut.

“So, you’re telling your president no?” Joker said.

“Another fuckin’ joke on me. I’ve been away from Vegas and the club for over two months.” The anger stirring in his gut erupted, but Mamba clenched his fists at his side. “Two fuckin’ months of doing everything you wanted, fighting week after week and getting nothing for it. Now I finally got someone good in my life, and you think you can just come down here and take it away? Well, fuck that.”

Cobra and Joker exchanged another look. “We better tell him.”

“Tell me what?”

Joker waved Python, Boa, and Rattler into the office, closed the door behind them, and continued. “We’re using the fight as a diversion.”

“Diversion?”

“The Marauders are getting out of hand,” Joker said. “They’re straying from their territory downtown. Just last week, me and Python caught them selling on the Strip and all around Paradise. And the shit they're selling isn’t good—fentanyl, heroin. We can’t let that shit stand.”

“What does that have to do with me fighting Ajax?”

“Between the Marauders, their following, plus the Serpents, this is gonna be fuckin’ huge. I got clubs coming in from Cali and down from Reno. Everybody’s heard about the bullshit goin’ on between us and the Marauders, and they’re more than ready to see some blood get spilled. Samson’s even got some of his guys coming in from New York. There’s a lot of cash to be made, and while you’re throwing fists at the biggest fight of the month, we’re gonna torch that body shop they call a clubhouse and their stash out in the desert.”

“Shit.” Mamba let their words sink in.

“Been trying to put this together since we saw them down here at your first fight in Laughlin, but when Ajax set up the meet with me the other day, it all fell into place. While he’s in the cage with you, with his whole crew watching, we’ll be taking care of our business.”

“I get it.”

“Nobody knows the backstory, not even Samson, and that’s the way we’re keeping it.” Cobra leaned in. “That goes for Mandy, too, understood?”

“Of course.” The pull of loyalty and the need to help the Serpents hit him hard. If shit went down the way Cobra planned, the Marauders would be over, and Ajax would lose his power.
