“Hmm. You can’t be done. That wasn’t enough,” he insisted.
“A little bit at a time. I need to pause.”
“Okay.”
They stayed like that for a while, his hand massaging the back of her neck and her sighing into him.
“You gave up your collection. Even if you won.”
It took him a while to make sense of her words.
“I wanted them out of the ship quickly,” he said.
“You must have spent so much time acquiring them.”
“Sure.” But he shrugged. “It’s artifice and ultimately doesn’t have as much value as people think. I have plenty of other treasures.”
“Let me guess. Your crew.”
“Them, too,” he jested and felt her smile.
“He’s a bastard. The old ship captain.”
“I can’t argue with that.”
“Dan’s dead?”
“Yes.”
“Good riddance.”
“I can’t argue with that, either. Drink up, darling.”
She did as instructed, no longer resisting this time as she took his other wrist. When she eyed his neck repeatedly, he arched his throat and waited until she got over her conflict. Then she began to twist further to face him.
A sound bubbled from his lips when her fangs sank in there, the sensation so different from the sucking on the wrists. He gripped her shoulders, then cruised his hands down her hips. When a leg trembled, he pressed against it, but she grew even more restless and writhed against him. Her body rubbed against his, a firm motion that sparked heat low in his abdomen.
When she moaned and arched tighter, he felt the brush of pebbled nipples even through her shirt and froze.
“Darling, are you turned on?”
She stilled but continued sucking. She didn’t say a word, but there was no need for it when her thighs parted easily at his urging. He hissed when he slipped a hand in her trousers and felt her.
“Wet. All for me?”
“It’s a side effect of blood drinking,” she protested, tone defensive, and just a tad bit embarrassed.
“I see. Do those animals arouse you, too?”
She laughed in disbelief. “No.”
He cupped her, rubbing up and down until her laughter died.
“Is that better?”
“No.”
He tugged lightly, slipping a finger inside. “How about that?”
