I’ve found her.

CHAPTER3

Valentine

Oh my.

Delicious.

Enticing.

Roman consumes me. Demolishes the walls I’ve built around my heart and shatters the bars of my self-imposed jail. He unshackles me from the hell I’ve been putting myself through.

He kisses me with reckless abandon but absolute control, and he does it in such a way that I’m helpless to stop him. I can’t protest. I can only live in the moment and accept that he’s tearing me apart while simultaneously helping me to build a brick exterior that only he can penetrate.

Needing to breathe, I draw back, but only as much as he allows. It’s as though a switch flipped inside him, and now all he wants is what I can give him.

I’m unsure of what that is, but I think I want to find out.

“Wow.” I giggle like I’m twelve. “That was…something.”

“Something good?” There’s a growl in his tone, one that tugs a string right between my legs and makes my sex throb with need.

“Definitely.” I giggle again. “Best birthday present ever,” I sigh happily.

Roman’s entire demeanor changes, and he grows still and tense as his eyes roam across my body. “Birthday?” he questions.

My cheeks flame at the slip. I hadn’t meant to say anything. It was supposed to be a romantic date. “Uhm, yeah. Today’s my birthday. Hence the name Valentine.” I give a wan smile and lower my eyes, biting my lip. I worry he’ll bail. Which would suck because I quite enjoy the controlled dominance he’s got going on.

“Here are your drinks.” The server places them in front of us. I don’t see the lime I asked for, but I’m not comfortable enough to say anything as I move to grab the glass and bring the straw to my lips.

Roman gets to it before I can and bites out, “You forgot the lime.” Something has changed in the atmosphere, and I’m not sure if he’s angry or not. Folding my hands in my lap, I wait on his cue.

“Why are you out on a date on your birthday rather than celebrating?” His gentle touch of my arm as he brushes his hand across my shoulder and turns my head to face him contradicts the tone of his voice.

Unable to hide the truth from him, I spit it out. “All my sisters had to work, Callie was going on a date, which is why she set this one up for us, and I don’t really have any friends, so it was better than being alone, I guess.” Shrugging, I still can’t meet his stare.

Pulling out his phone, he sends a long text to someone before standing up and reaching for his wallet. Dropping a fifty on the table, he reaches out a hand for me. My body reacts before my mind, and I grab it. Allowing Roman to pull me from the booth and lead me out of the restaurant, I feel a moment of regret as we leave because I was starving and dying to try the food here that I could never afford on my own.

“Uhm, Roman? What are we doing?”

Spinning to face me as we step outside, he cups my face in his hands, pulling me up to meet his mouth, and once again feasts off me, greedily sucking on my tongue as I open for him. I don’t have time to recover when he pulls back just as a car stops in front of us.

“After you.” He holds open the back door to a fancy sedan with a larger-than-normal backseat. Sliding across the bench, he follows in behind me.

“Thirty minutes, sir,” the man driving says as he raises the glass a few feet in front of us.

“Thirty minutes to what?” I ask as the door shuts, and we pull away from the curb.

Gripping me by the waist, Roman drags me across his lap to straddle his thighs. Pulling the skirt of my dress up to spread out across our joined bodies, he lets out a loud groan and drops his head back.

“They had to be fucking white.” I feel him fist the material of my skirt in his hands as they rest on my thighs.

“What are you talking about?” This man is so confusing.

“Your panties. Pure, innocent white.” His teeth dig into his lower lip as I feel a bulge in his pants beneath me.

“Oh.”
