“Want to come?” he whispered.

“Please,” I answered in the same low voice, and the pressure intensified along with the force. Now my nipples rocked against the sheets, adding another layer to the sweet torment.

Then I was coming, my head back as I cried out, and Freddie kissed me. All teeth and tongue, he devoured the sound and was right there to stroke me down as I shuddered and trembled.

He didn’t leave me even after, just wrapping me up tight. Our skin was tacky and would be a mess in a few hours. But that was what showers were for. I wasn’t leaving him. When he wrapped a hand over my breast, cupping it firmly, I sighed.

“Yes,” I answered his unspoken question. “That is perfect.”

“Good,” he said. “Me too.”

CHAPTER37

DOC

I’d barely slammed open the door to my truck, when Jasper slammed it closed. Jerking around, I stared at him. Milo was three steps behind him and Liam was following right behind him.

“Not the time for this, boys,” I warned. Right now, I needed distance between Little Bit and me. Distance to not see my hands around her throat. Distance to not see what could have happened if I hadn’t woken up.

“You’re not going anywhere, Mickey,” Milo told me as he boxed me in. Jasper leaned back against the truck door, arms folded. Liam met my stare without flinching.

Opening and closing my hands, I fought the urge to strike out. I almost wished Bones or Voodoo were here. They’d both give me a solid fight if I asked for it.

“This isn’t the time…” I said slowly.

“No,” Liam commented, arms folded. The fact they were all in various states of sleepwear wasn’t lost on me. The air out in the warehouse was almost too cold against my skin. I’d only had on a pair of sweats. I didn’t even remember dragging them on.

“Boys—”

“Guys,” Milo corrected. “Ten years ago, you could get away with thatboysbullshit. None of us are kids anymore.” There was something flat in his eyes that refused to let me go. “We haven’t been for a long time.”

Fuck.

Hands on my hips, I backed off a step or two and stared down at my feet. The burn scars feathered over the top of one foot. You could see the elements from one of my boots that had scored deeper than others there.

Even as the presence of those scars registered, the history of them, and the memories of receiving them—nausea swam through me. I dropped my hands to my thighs as I bent over and tried to slow the race of my heart.

A hand came to rest on my shoulder. “We got you,” Milo said.

“I had my hands on her throat.” They should be killing me.

“If I thought for an instant you wanted your hands there,” Jasper said in a rock-steady voice, “I’d cut them off for you.”

I jerked my gaze up to lock on his. Jasper, who’d been furious with me for years and more than willing to put a bullet in me, had a kind of rough compassion in his eyes.

The urge to rail at him died, unspoken. If he wanted to protect Little Bit, I needed to never sleep with her again. I hadn’t meant to fall asleep in the first place. I knew better. My dreams could be dark fucking places.

Milo’s grip on my shoulder was like steel. The kids shouldn’t be the ones holding me up. The door to the clubhouse opened, and Vaughn strode out with Kellan a few steps behind him.

When Rome appeared, I had to fight the urge to shake Milo off. “Where is Little Bit?”

“She’s with Freddie,” Kellan said. “He’s got her. How are you?”

I frowned. Freddie wasn’t always in the best headspace…

“He’s fine with her,” Rome said. “He wouldn’t have stayed if he wasn’t.” While no judgment echoed in his tone, it resonated within me, nevertheless. I shouldn’t have stayed with her.

“Do you need to talk about it?” Milo asked, and I shook my head.
