“But I’m not done trying to help you.”

I smoothed my hands down her hips and thighs, then nudged them wide to enjoy the sweet dampness visibly there. Her pussy was all kinds of pink, and a little swollen.

“Do we ever give you a break, Sparrow?” There were six of us, and there would be seven eventually.

She laughed. “More than you might think…I like when I’m sore after all of you.” A shudder rippled over her. I drew a finger between her labia, gathering moisture to tease around her clit.

“I don’t ever want you to be too sore.” Or pained. No pain for her. Not like this. “So you will say when it’s too much and let us take care of you.”

Instead of acquiescing, she ran her foot up my side to my shoulder, then hooked her leg around me. Even with her arms tied around her back and balancing on her hands, she managed to snare me and drag me forward.

“I will if you will, Kestrel. You will tell me when you need me to take care of you.”

Easing two fingers into her, I bit her lower lip before I kissed her. She returned the favor, sucking my lower lip between her teeth. “Yes, ma’am,” I murmured. “But first…I’m going to take care of you.”

Her sigh as I began to kiss my way down her body made me chuckle.

“This is not the way to win arguments,” she scolded on a groan as I grinned, because her hips were arching up to me even as I helped to lay her down. This angle gave me all of the control.

“I’m not arguing,” I informed her before I sucked her clit between my teeth. I was also not talking anymore. No, now I was going to take care of both of us.

CHAPTER31

LIAM

“It’s late,” Ezra said from where he leaned against the railing. The air was damp. Even the briny breeze hitting us carried in more moisture from the ocean. Rain-kissed without the actual rain.

“You were the one who set the time and the place,” I told him, more annoyed that we were sneaking around to avoid potential eavesdroppers and spies.

“Technically—” Ezra motioned to his car, and the passenger door opened.

Air whooshed out of me as Adam exited the vehicle. Like us, he was dressed in all black, but it was still a suit. He was also sporting a beard.

“That’s new,” I said, lifting my chin at him even as I extended my hand.

He clasped it for a firm handshake. “Helps me to blend. I’m still playing dead, after all.” The last was a pointed reminder of his status.

“Better than real dead.” Dropping back to the railing, I swept the area. It was quiet. Not that someone couldn’t observe us, but the place was also closed to the public. “What’s going on?”

“Heard about your father,” Adam said, and I didn’t focus on the spasm of pain those words provoked. That was the problem with waiting around, it gave me too much time to think. So I didn’t wait. I moved. I planned. I worked.

Until I could do nothing but wait. The only thing assuaging that ache right now was Hellspawn. Hellspawn, followed by my mirror, kept me grounded and balanced me out.

That and torturing Sharpe were the bright spots in my day.

“Sorry for the loss,” Adam continued. “Glad your mom made it. She’s going to be all right?”

I shrugged, fighting the urge to fold my arms. I wouldn’t show defensiveness here. “She’s—grieving. I’ve got her tucked away for safety until we can deal with Bradley Sharpe.”

“That’s why I’m here,” Adam said, then nodded to Ezra. “We’re not fans of Sharpe.”

“Never have been,” Ezra supplied, as he scanned the area. It was like he was both a part of the conversation and not. “He’s a ghoul.”

That was a word for him.

“Just keep Hellspawn’s friend safe. She worries about Lainey.” Particularly right now, with the wagons circling.

“Lainey will be fine,” Ezra said in an almost amused tone. “I’ve been keeping her just fine, and I’ll keep her that way.”
