“That’s us.” Grey pointed toward the table and tugged Roe with him. “Hey, everyone. I have two new members to introduce. Roe and Wally.”

“Members?” Roe asked, sharing a baffled look with Wally.

A young blond man leaned forward with a smirk. “Didn’t you know? This is a meeting of the Hot Mess Club.”

“What now?” Roe arched a brow. “Iknow I’m a hot mess, but how do you all know?”

“We’re all hot messes here,” an alpha with a rabbit strapped across his chest in a baby carrier said.

“That’s Caden,” Grey said, pointing to the man with the rabbit. “Huckleberry is his rabbit.”

“Cain’s brother?” Roe asked.

Caden nodded and smiled shyly.

“I’m Justin,” the blond said. “I didn’t bring a rabbit with me because I’m a normal person.”

Fergie whined and went to sniff Caden’s shoe, clearly wanting to say hello to the rabbit. Caden knelt down and introduced the two.

“I’m Abel,” another blond said with a wide smile. “I am also normal, but if I had a rabbit that wanted to come along with me, I would bring one everywhere.”

“Not normal,” Justin said, rolling his eyes.

Grey ignored them and pointed at an older, Hispanic omega. “This is Eduardo. He’s from Arizona and is our newest member.”

The older man smiled sweetly. “It’s nice to meet you, gentlemen.”

“And this is Fawn,” Grey finished, waving to the only woman at the table. The blonde was about his age and well put together in designer clothing. She really did look familiar.

“Fawn,” Roe mused, thinking. “Do I know you?”

“Cook Enterprises,” she said, waving him into a chair. “My ex‍-‍husband’s family ran it.”

“Oh yeah,” he said, happy to be off his ankle. “I read about...Never mind. This is Wally, he’s my bodyguard.”

“Nice topic change,” Fawn said, laughing. “It’s alright, though. Everyone knows my ex‍-‍husband was a horrible man. That’s old news. Tell us why the beloved grandson of Roland and Ben Dorsey needs a bodyguard.”

“Explain your hot-mess-ness.” Abel leaned forward. “Give us all the details.”

“I’ll get those donuts,” Grey said, wiggling happily. “And coffee.”

“Earl Grey tea for me and a mocha latte for Wally,” Roe said, patting his bodyguard’s arm. “Now, where to start?”

Four hoursand three dozen donuts later, Roe knew everything juicy about each of the others at the table‍—‍even Wally‍—‍and they knew everything about him. He wasn’t the alone in his hot-mess-ness at all. The others had dealt with their fair share of trouble.

“I’m just saying,” Abel muttered, “if James and Gabriel were toaccidentlyfall in a volcano, would anyone really notice?”

“Forget about that,” Justin said, elbowing Abel in the side. “Tell me more about these sketches of the sheriff. Are they nude? Did he model for you? Can you talk him into modeling for you?”

“I think I need to text your husband about this obsession you have with his boss,” Caden said, snorting a laugh. Justin was married to Mack’s deputy, Tanner.

“Are you kidding me?” Justin said, giving a short bark of laughter. “Tanner would insist on seeing the sketches. Sheriff McKenzie is a fine looking man.”

“Silver fox,” Wally agreed, playing with the spoon in his tea cup.

Roe pressed his hands to his warm cheeks. “I think I’d prefer to talk about almost dying.”

“Cain will take care of that,” Caden said. “Tell Justin what the sheriff looks like with his shirt off before he combusts.”
