He folded her into himself and rocked her bodily for a moment.

She became aware of the motion, lifting her face from the nook of his chest. Their eyes met and clashed with heat.

She felt him harden against her and instantly felt a wet rush of need. She instinctively leaned in to him and then realising, tried to pull back. His arms loosened slightly, and he gazed down at her, giving her the freedom to make the next move.

She moistened her lips with her tongue. His gaze blazed even more brightly.

‘Just so we’re clear, I’m not leading you on,’ she whispered.

‘Crystal, kara,’ he said bending down to brush his lips against her ear lobe, sending a jolt of heat down her body. ‘But I don’t mind if you do.’

‘No, I can’t. I made a promise to myself.’

‘No-one need ever know.’

‘I’ll know,’ she groused.

‘Nada, you won’t. When I make love to you love, you’ll forget yourself and your timeline.’

‘Is that right?’

‘It’s my promise. You’ll scream so hard you’ll even forget your own name.’

‘Stop!’ she moaned, contradicting herself by pushing her body closer to his.

‘Never!’ Kage retorted softly. ‘I’m enjoying myself too much.’

‘At my ever lovin’ expense,’ she grouched.

‘Forgive mekara, if I’m being too forward or intense,’ Kage said softly. ‘But I’ve never met a woman quite like you,’ he rumbled into her ear.

‘Not my fault you’ve spent time with women who can’t compare to me,’ she said with a soft smile.

He gave her a long look.

‘Too right,’ he finally drawled. ‘And now that I’ve met you, what should I do about it? I can’t go back to all those other girls who don’t live up to you.’

‘You’re going to have to try existing without me because I’m not available,’ she shot back.

‘Says who?’

‘Says me and there’s nothing you can do about it.’

‘Is that right?’

‘Yep, you’ll never have me,’ she said.

He let out a loud laugh. ‘You know all you’re doing is waving a red flag in-front of this bull?’

‘And just like a matador at the top of their game, I’m going to escape you.’

‘Are you daring me?’

‘Damn right,’ she said, then she slapped her hand over mouth when she realised her mistake. ‘No, I meant no, I’m not.’

‘Too late Harlow, game on,’ he drawled. She saw a glint in his eye that sent a shiver down a spine.

‘I’m serious, I’m not in the game,’ she retorted.
