Penny

Itseemsimpossible—apart of me can’t really believe it. Yet, after everything that has happened, finally, there is Parker, standing in front of me. He has a look of resolve and pure love on his face. I can’t believe he has come looking for me after I left the city so abruptly.

Worse, I can’t believe he loves me.

He, of all people in the world, has fallen in love with me. I have always been madly in love with him. With the way he carries himself, his personality, his intellect, and his beautiful eyes, how can I not? I love everything about him and it is crazy to think that Parker loves me back after all.

"Penny, you're the only one for me," Parker says after kissing me, with a brilliant smile on his face, enjoying the fact that he had surprised me with his sudden appearance and all the things he confessed to me.

"I love you with all my heart. Your bossy, perfectionist ways, your fits of jealousy, and your snoring in the middle of the night."

I can’t help but let out a giggle, which escapes in the middle of my tears.

"I don't snore.".

"Even if you did, I'd still love you," he says, kissing the tip of my nose.

I can’t help but smile foolishly. His witticisms, his way of finding amusement in everything, has always been one of the things I love most about him.

Feeling strong from knowing he is so close to me, and from believing that, perhaps for the first time, we have a real future together, I confess my love to him, with tears still in my eyes.

"I've loved you forever too," I tell him with a smile. "Always, ever since we met, when we were just teenagers. Although, I must admit, this situation has been a bit complicated for me," I confess to him, knowing that I haven't told him about the baby yet. I haven't been honest with him.

Parker may have confessed to me his reason for running off the night before, but I still haven't told him that the other part of our lie has become real, and we are expecting a baby together.

"I know, and I'm so sorry," Parker says with a regretful expression. " I promise you I will do everything in my power to make things right. I just want you to be happy."

His lips tenderly kiss me, on my forehead, on my closed eyelids, on my cheeks, on the tip of my nose, and finally, on my lips.

We kissed passionately, each of us knowing the other is the person we want to be with.

"Penny, don't take that flight," Parker says then, with a mischievous grin. "I'll take you to San Francisco on my private jet. It'll be like an early honeymoon!"

For an instant, my head spins. "Are we still lying about being engaged?" I whispered.

"That's not a lie anymore. We are together, Penny, really together, and we can give whatever name, whatever rank to our relationship you wish."

I can't help but laugh, but at the same time, I feel like I’m floating in the middle of all my fantasies rolled into one. Except this is all real. His sense of humor has always brought a smile to my face.

Parker takes my hands, kissing my knuckles.

"You have to get a grip," I tell him. "People are watching us."

And it is true. We have somehow become celebrities amidst the hustle and bustle of this airport. Parker doesn't seem to mind in the least.

"Let them watch" he says, not even flinching.

"I'm serious," I reply as I gently tap him on the shoulder. "What are you going to tell my brother, your best friend, Grayson, about all this?"

Parker shrugs, still looking unbothered.

"He'll find out you made me cry. I assure you, this whole scene will be in the press. They'll think we had a lovers' quarrel, or something," I say, trying not to think of the worst case scenario. This has all gotten out of control!

"Let me be the one to take care of Grayson," he tells me gently, kissing my cheek while firmly holding my hands. "Come on, I have the jet waiting for us."

"What? You mean, it’s already ready?" I ask with amazement, as Parker starts walking purposefully, pulling me by the hand.

"Of course it is. I wasn't planning on letting you go. If I didn't catch up with you here, I'd go all the way to San Francisco to find you," he states matter-of-factly, and the subtext is clear: I'd follow you to the ends of the earth if I had to.
