Blushing, I responded. “You do too.”

“You have plans for tomorrow?”

“Besides work, no.” Was he going to ask me on another date so soon?

“How are your clients coming along? I know you’ve switched offices, and that sometimes it's tough on you.”

“I've been thinking a lot about opening up a private practice. I think I can convince a lot of my patients to come over.” Nobody knew about my dream of going into business for myself. I closed my eyes, regretting that I’d said it aloud. It sounded like a foolish idea.

“Then what are you waiting for?”

“You know how I am. I need to feel it out first. New things are overwhelming for me.”

“Find a place. If you're anything like I know you are, you already have a place in mind. It's probably the perfect location. Is it too small? Once you bring in more clients and more money, you can move to a bigger space. The initial place doesn't have to be permanent.”

I hated how well he knew me.

“Yeah. You're right.” I sighed. Anxiety stirred as I thought about actually going through with my dreams.

“Look into it. See what you need to do. What licenses and things you’ll need? Because I'm sure that regardless of wherever you are, whether it's too small or too big, you're gonna make it work. You got this.”

“Sometimes I think you believe in me more than I believe in myself.” I chuckled more to myself to cover up the nerves I was feeling.

“What you feel is your reflection, staring right back at you. If you didn't want it so bad, there's no way that I could hype you up. I'm only giving you the energy that you’re giving it. I can see the passion and drive and how much you care about your clients. It can work, baby. Take your time. Write out your plan. I know you’ve got one in that pretty head of yours. Write it out on paper. Create a visual. That way, you can look to see if there's something you're missing. Something you haven't thought about. Then knock it out. Make it work for you.”

“Okay, okay. I hear you.”

“I know you do. And then when you have doubts or you need 4 a.m. pep talks, you know where to find me.”

I didn’t want to hype up his head too much. But he gave some of the best damn pep talks. He never let me get too far in my head. He made me focus on my goals. Made the doubts disappear. Let him tell it. There was nothing I couldn't do. It was one thing that made me fall in love with him.

“Seven…”

“Yes, baby?” There was that smooth baritone.

Fuck!It was the first thing that came to mind and it just stayed there. If he were here, I would have probably jumped on him. Not only with kisses, hugs, and appreciation, but there was something about how he supported me, the way he believed in me. It was sexy as fuck, and I just needed to feel him right now.

“Yeah, I can feel it too.” He said. “Tell me that your pussy didn’t get wet because I'm harder than a motherfucker.”

I sighed, not wanting to give away anything. But the truth was, he was right. I wanted him so badly.

“Do me a favor. Check on her for me?”

“Seven, I–”

“You said nothing about this. Does dirty talk count as sex?”

I laughed. “Yes, technically, it does count as sex.”

“Oh shit. Okay, I'm not pushing. But can you check on her for me? I just want to make sure she’s alright because, from the way you sound, it's making me feel like she's needy. Like she needs some attention. I can’t have her out here starving.”

“Starving?” I squeezed my thighs together to ward off the throbbing sensations pulsing there.

“Yeah, you know when you’re hungry for something and you can't get it. I call that shit starving. I don't know about you. If I’m right, she needs to be fed like a motherfucker. Am I?”

Don’t answer that.

“Baby, am I right?” His tone demanded an answer.
