Fuming, I yell, “She’s married!”

Faltering, I repeat, “She’s married.”

I fall back into the chair by the window with my elbows on my knees. I throw my Sharks flat bill hat on the floor. My hands form a tent over my nose and mouth. I rub them up and down several times before I can no longer hold back the tears from falling. “I loved her, Jay. Iloveher.”

“I know, Tack. I know.”

I use my thumb to wipe away the waterfall. I’m Tackett Towles and I’m not reducing myself to pity.

My phone dings with a notification.

Harper:I’ll listen. No judgements here.

Me:Thanks…

Harper:Hagan and I talked with her and she’s a mess.

Me:Good.

Harper:She can get a divorce you know. She wouldn’t be the first.

Me:Her business Harp, not mine. Not anymore.

Harper:Hagan said you aren’t returning his calls.

Me:Perfect timing for him.

Harper:He’s your friend. He doesn’t want her in that way. He wants you and Talynn together.

Me:That’s not happening.

Harper:Hagan and I are coming.

Me:Where does Megan stand on this?

Harper:I don’t speak for others. See ya Friday.

Me:See ya.

For some reason, I feel like talking to the whole world. Jayson asks, “Who are you texting?”

“Harper, but now I’m texting Megan.”

Me:Archer is going to the apartment to get ALL my belongings.

It takes a few minutes for her to respond.

Megan:Tackett, don’t do this.

Me:It’s obvious where you stand.

Megan:I’m going to ask you for one favor. Listen to her. Then make a decision.

Why don’t these extremely smart people, realize Talynn is married?

Me:I’m asking for a trade, tell Archer.

Immediately, my phone starts ringing and I turn it off. I assume it’s Archer, I don’t check.
