“I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else,” she promises, and the best part is, I finally believe her.

Everyone gathers around as we move over to the bar, and this time, Laiken hands me her actual license even though she knows that I don’t need it. Still, I pick it up and admire the way my last name still follows her first. And I’m going to make sure it stays that way.

For the first time, I hand her a drink menu while Cam hands Mali hers. Her eyes move back and forth as she looks through it, and I know exactly what she lands on when she smirks.

“Pretty Poison?”

I throw my head back as I laugh. It’s her own drink, really—Malibu rum, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and a splash of orange juice. It’s been her specialty for years. And when we were coming up with the menu, the name just felt fitting. Because that’s what she’s been for me—a pretty poison. She runs through my veins and attacks every inch of me, making it so I can think of nothing and no one but her.

It’s no surprise when the two of them whisper to each other and then look at Cam and me, smirking.

“Oh God,” I groan. “I’m afraid to ask what you decided on.”

Laiken smiles sweetly. “We want tequila shots, but I want mine off of you.”

Jesus fucking Christ. My cock is already half hard just hearing her say those words. Cam and I glance at each other and I know we’re both on the same page.

Neither of us are about to say no.

I pull my shirt over my head and catch Laiken shamelessly checking me out. Rolling it up, I flip it over her head and use it to pull Laiken into me.

“You do know I’m absolutely fucking you after this, right?”

She snickers as she looks up at me. “Good. I’m counting on it. Now get on the bar.”

I do as she says and lie on one side of the bar while Cam lies on the other. They each lick a stripe up the sides of our necks and then pour some salt on it. Laiken carefully places a lime between my lips, and Owen comes over to hand me the bottle of tequila. It’s cold as I pour it into my belly button, but it’s not long before Cam’s set up, too. And at the same time, they go.

The feeling of Laiken sucking the tequila from my stomach and then licking the salt off my neck is the hottest fucking thing. And when she uses her mouth to take the lime from me, I find myself jealous of a fucking fruit.

As soon as she spits it out, I pull her back down and cover her mouth with my own. Her tongue tangles with mine and I can taste the tequila that lingers there. It’s fucking intoxicating, and I can’t wait for the things I’m going to do to her later.

“You’re such a tease,” I murmur against her lips.

She pulls away and winks at me. “You love it.”

“You bet your ass I do.”

Laiken looks like she’s high off life as she backs up and hugs Mali, excited for them to both finally be twenty-one. I can only imagine how the rest of the summer is going to be. Especially since I’ve got my girl back. Things couldn’t possibly get any better.

But as I sit up and look across the bar, I realize theycanapparently get worse. Because there, no more than twenty feet away, is a girl who is dressed in a familiar shirt—with an absolutely terrifying stain on it.

My chest tightens, and it feels like it’s getting harder to breathe.

“Laiken,” I say, not taking my eyes off the girl.

She turns to me, confused at my tone. “What?”

I pull her close so I can speak directly into her ear. “Isn’t that the shirt you were wearing the night Monty died?”

Her eyes widen, and she spins on her heels. I can tell the very moment she sees it, because her whole body tenses. There’s a level of fear radiating off her as we start to realize that this shit isn’t over after all.

“Oh my God.”

Isit a crime against twenty-first birthdays to vomit up your first legal shot? Because as I’m staring at the shirt I was wearing the night Monty died, the same one I took off so I could try to stop the bleeding, I feel like I might. Which is such a shame, because taking a body shot off the hot bartender is a fucking epic move.

“There’s no fucking way,” Mali hisses. “It’s got to be some shitty coincidence.”

That hardly seems possible. It’s the exact same shirt, complete with blood stains and everything. This whole time, I thought Hayes got rid of it when he cleaned up everything else. But to my absolute horror, I was wrong.
