“Because I want you to!” I tell him. “I don’t carewhowants to take you away from me! We can’t let them win!”

“Win?” he scoffs. “Laiken, she’s fucking dangerous! Don’t you get that? You were buried alive! I died a million deaths today thinking that I…”

His words fade out, like he can’t bring himself to say them, but they need to be said.

“That you what? That you lost me?”

He stares back at me with an unreadable expression on his face. It’s some kind of mix between pain, fear, and intense admiration. Then finally, after a moment, his shoulders sag and he stalks toward me.

His hands cradle my face, and he crashes his lips against mine. The kiss is desperate, like he’s pouring every ounce of emotion into it. Like the one after I told him I hadn’t been with anyone else, but stronger. More intense. More…everything.

And when he breaks it and pulls back to look at me, I can see it there in his eyes—all of the walls he built up to keep me out come crumbling down.

“I love you,” he breathes. “I love you so much.”

My heart leaps inside my chest as I hear the words I’ve been aching for. There is nothing in the world better than this. Not a single thing that can top the way he makes me feel.

“I love you, too,” I tell him quietly. “There’s never been a day that I haven’t.”

He’s been hearing me say it for a couple weeks now, and yet, it’s like tonight is the first time he’s believing it. His hands grip my waist and I jump into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist and kissing him deeply. His hold on me is tight as he takes us upstairs and into our bedroom. And when he lies me down on the bed, I know he means it when he says he’s got me.

He'salwaysgot me.

“You are everything to me,” he says, kissing his way down my neck. “There isn’t a thing about you that I don’t love.”

My head falls back against the pillow as he drags the shirt up my torso. I lift off the bed just enough for him to pull it over my head, and he drops back down to kiss my collarbone. Then over my heart.

He slowly makes his way to the center of my chest and then starts heading down. It’s all soft, teasing kisses, the kind that are so light I wonder if his lips are even touching my skin at all, or if what I feel is his warm breath brushing against me.

“Hayes,” I plead, needing more.

The corner of his lips raises, and I look down in time to see his tongue dart out to moisten them. “I love the sound of my name when you say it like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like you’re going to self-destruct if you don’t get what you want.”

I squirm under his stare. “Who says I won’t?”

He huffs out a laugh, and while his eyes stay locked with mine, he slowly peels the rest of my clothes off, leaving me completely exposed to him.

“Not fair,” I whine. “You’re still fully dressed.”

It only takes a second before he’s pulling his own shirt over his head, and I don’t think there will ever be a day that I don’t drool at the sight of him.

“Better?”

I bite my lip. “Much.”

With a chuckle, he drops down and starts to kiss the inside of my thigh, nipping at my skin with his teeth. It’s so intense as the little bits of pain quickly turn to pleasure. And when his thumb grazes over my clit and down to my entrance, I’m so fucking needy for it.

“So fucking stunning,” he tells me as he watches me. “I can’t believe you’re mine.”

“All yours,” I reply. “Always going to be yours. That’s never going to change.”

He exhales, feeling the sincerity in my words. Everything I’ve been saying, he’s finally hearing it. Finally believing it. And it’s like our hearts have found a way to intertwine again, the same way they used to.

With a teasing blow over my pussy, he stares up at me and watches my reaction as he licks a stripe right up the center. My whole body tenses, and I arch my hips to chase the feeling.
