We start to pull our clothes on and I wipe my hand and thigh with one of my socks before I put my foot back in my shoe and tuck the sock in my pocket.

“Is that the only time we’ll fuck or jack each other off?” he asks.

I lift my head and look at him. “No. Murdering someone doesn’t get me off. Not like you think.”

His brow arches like he doesn’t believe me. “Hmm.”

“You think that’s why I fucked you before? Because killing that guy got me turned on? Or seeing his dead body?” I ask, gesturing to the corpse twenty feet away.

He cocks his head. “So what is it?”

I shake my head and stare up into the sky, shoving my hands in my jacket pockets. When I lower my chin, I stare into his eyes. I suppose he’s partially right. “Even if the blood and violence is excitable to me, you could show up to my house on a random Tuesday and I’d still fuck you.”

He bites down on his lip before giving me a wide grin. “I see.”

“We have some work to do,” I say, walking toward my truck. “Luckily, I have some landscaping tools.”

“Okay, cool.”

I remove two shovels and hand him the garden spade. “Does killing someone turn you on?” I ask as we walk back toward the body.

Kaspian looks at me with a bewildered expression. “No. I’m not some sort of sicko.”

We both start laughing.

ChapterTwenty-One

Holding me to my word, Kaspian shows up at my house on Tuesday, and I bend him over my couch and fuck him until he comes on my floor. Luckily, it’s hardwood.

Wednesday and Thursday go by without any communication, but our pseudo-relationship doesn't require us to be in constant contact.

When Friday rolls around, Willow asks me to go to lunch with her again. I agree because the whole week has been a little awkward. More on her part than mine. I’m assuming she’s embarrassed by our conversation at the club with Kaspian, or possibly about the body shots we did off each other.

We go back to the same place—Tossed. She orders a grilled chicken salad and I get a southwestern chicken wrap. As soon as I take my first bite, she puts her fork down.

“Okay, so let’s address the elephant.”

I use a napkin to wipe the corner of my mouth, but since my mouth is full, I don’t speak. I raise my eyebrows at her and nod, gesturing for her to go ahead.

“Last weekend.” I nod again, still chewing. “How close are you and Kaspian?”

The question catches me off guard, but I hold up a finger and finish swallowing my food before I answer.

“We’re friends, I suppose. We don’t talk every day, but we hang out occasionally.”

I don’t know why I didn't tell her that we also hookup, and if Kas was here to notice that omission, he’d probably lose his shit.

She nods, chewing on her bottom lip nervously. “Was that conversation weird for you?”

“What conversation?”

She buries her face in her hands. “Please don’t make me repeat it.”

I chuckle. “I’m going to guessthe more the merrier.”

“Yes,” she mumbles into her hands.

I reach out and pull one of her hands down. “Look at me.”
