His right brow arches perfectly. “You don’t, huh?”

I bite my lip, fighting my grin. “Maybe not.”

This is a game we play, not unusual for us. Our sex life has remained exciting, both of us aware of what turns the other one on. I like pain and degradation. He likes being in control and chasing me down. We get off on each other’s excitement, so while it’s not always like this, we very much enjoy what some might consider taboo.

A low, deep growl rumbles in his throat as he leans forward. “Mm. So disrespectful.”

I nod, my desire growing. “And you can’t force me.”

“Is that a challenge,princesa?”

“What’re you gonna do about it?”

He takes my hand in his, kissing his scarred initials. I look at our connected hands and run my thumb over the new ink on his skin. In a matching location, he has MD on his hand, a crown sitting atop the letters.

“Tell me what I want to hear,” he says.

I stretch onto my tiptoes and give him a soft kiss. “I love you.”

“I love you,” he replies. “To the ends of the Earth and back.”

I’ll never tire of hearing his love declarations. We only just exchanged them for the first time a month ago. I said it first, surprising even myself. It came out so naturally, but I quickly sucked in a sharp breath and watched him with wide eyes, unsure how he’d respond. He said simply, “You think I don’t love you, princesa? I love you more than I love myself.” To which I replied, “Then I’ll love you enough for both of us.”

“Now,” he says, pulling away from me and giving me a wicked grin. “Do you think you’ll be able to hide from me?”

I watch him for only a couple seconds before I tear off, running through our large house. His footsteps behind me speed up as I quicken my pace, and my heart races. I’ve never been happier.

The End

Acknowledgments

Yay! It’s done! I felt like I was writing this story forever, when truthfully, it was maybe six months. It took that long because I had to pause a couple of different times to write two anthology stories. It was hard coming back to characters I had already started to forget while writing other ones, but I’ve been dying to write this story for a while, and it’s finally done.

I love Mariella and Vicente. I’ve always loved the anti-heroes and the villains. When I write bad guys, I want them to remain bad. I don’t necessarily want them to be redeemable or make them change. Red flags are okay in fiction, right? Vicente represents every villain I’ve ever loved, and Mariella is me, ready to fall to my knees for them. Haha!

This is my first foray into the mafia romance world. To be honest, I’ve always been a little afraid to write it, because I’m aware with mafia stories, you have a lot of characters, drama, and other families. I wanted to make sure to give enough time to my main characters while also remaining very much in the criminal underworld. I also didn’t want there to be too much going on with that and not enough happening with Vicente and Mariella. In the end, I’m happy with how it turned out and hope you enjoyed it.

I want to thank Robin Harper from Wicked by Design for my amazing cover. Thank you for always dealing with me and all my emails. I know I’ll always love whatever you come up with.

Thanks to Tori Ellis, my favorite editor ever! I appreciate you making sure my manuscript is polished up.

To Jasmine, my newly acquired PA, I can’t thank you enough for your messages after reading this story. It really boosted my confidence when I was sure this story was trash. I’m so happy you love these characters as much as I do. Thanks for setting up my teams and being the best.

Huge thanks to Dani from Wildfire Marketing for helping with the promo for this book. It’s been amazing!

The biggest thanks to my husband, WS Greer. Baby, I love you so damn much! I can’t believe I got so lucky in finding you so young, and that we continue to grow closer. I don’t know if I could do this without you. You’re my sounding board, my listening ear when I need to vent, my cheerleader, and my shoulder to cry on. You give me so much confidence and hope, and you always have my back. I’m glad we’re in this business together, because I value your honesty and opinions so much. There aren’t enough words to adequately thank you for everything you do. I love you.

To my friends who support me, it does not go unnoticed. Whether it’s a like on one of my posts, a share, hyping me up to others, or purchasing every book I have, I’m truly grateful. Thank you!

Desiree. Gah! You’re one of the best things to happen to me this past year. I’m so thankful our relationship grew to what it is. It’s rare to find someone who is so ride or die, who has your back a hundred percent, cheers for your success, and is so genuine. I love you, my smutty, dark romance, villain-loving sister. This book was written with you in mind. Can’t wait for us to be kidnapped by mob bosses together and live out our dreams. Haha!

Readers! I can’t convey my thanks in a meaningful enough way. I’m thankful for your time. There are so many books out there, and the fact that you picked mine to try means the world to me. I hope to keep creating stories you care about. Thank you for reading, sharing, and reviewing. I couldn’t be an author without readers. You are why I continue to do what I do. Thank you!

Book influencers, I know you’re readers, too, but thanks for every tag, share, and edit made. You guys do this because you love books and the community, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. I’m so grateful.

I guess I’ve rambled on enough. If you enjoyed this story, please consider leaving a review. They are so important and extremely appreciated.

Until next time.
