Rhoda stood with tears brimming in her eyes. “It was my idea for you to stay with him. Remember when you wanted to run away the first night?” Rhoda wiped the corners of her eyes to avoid ruining her makeup.

Mila laughed and then turned to look at her bridesmaids. Each wore a dress style of their choice in a deep emerald green. Mila had asked three other flight attendant friends to make up her side of the wedding party.

Cyrus, being the amazing man he was, had Miles, Luca, and her three brothers on his side.

Even though Cyrus was a little overwhelmed with Mila’s abundance of family, he eased himself right in. Thankfully, despite his discomfort, her family accepted him and his eccentricities. She could only imagine how hard it was to fit in as a polar bear.

Mila turned to look at herself in the mirror.

The sweetheart neckline dipped into an elegantly laced bodice. Because Mila was far from traditional, her gown melted from a tea-stained color of ivory into different shades of greens and blues to match the dresses and the colors of the wedding.

She loved the dress because when she put it on, Mila thought that the train looked like a peacock’s tail. From the waist down, it flared outward in a princess skirt with small crystal beads in intricate designs.

Cyrus had offered to pay for her dress, but she declined. Mila wanted to use her money and have a little part of herself be at the wedding.

Her hair was pulled back and held on either side with combs decorated with matching crystals. This style exposed her long neck and collarbone with the heart-shaped neckline.

Raden, Mila’s dad, entered the room. His eyes instantly sprang tears, and he walked over, arms spread wide, to pull his daughter into a hug. “You look beautiful, Mila.”

Mila pulled away and kissed her dad’s cheek. “Thank you.” She used her thumb to wipe the lipstick off his cheek where she’d kissed him, and Cora, Mila’s mom, poked her head out from behind her husband.

“My turn, you old softy.” Cora elbowed Raden out of the way, wrapped her arms around her daughter, and squeezed. “Just because that man has money doesn’t mean he gets to wear the pants. You two are partners, remember?”

Mila laughed. “I know, Mom. You like him too, remember?”

“Doesn’t matter. Right now, I’m your mom, and no one gets to mess with you.”

“Got it.” Mila stood back and smiled at everyone in the room. Her smile widened when the wedding planner told them it was time to go.

Everyone filed out in the way they had practiced the night before.

Raden took his daughter’s arm, and they walked down the aisle together.

The ceremony went quickly.

Birds chirped, and the breeze was light on Mila’s skin. All she remembered was how handsome her brothers, Tommen, Rowan, and Cian, looked in their tuxedos. Miles and Luca looked handsome too, but her heart and eyes were locked on Cyrus. There was no way she could look anywhere else.

The pastor read from her favorite book of poems, then Mila and Cyrus exchanged vows and rings.

The kiss forever locking them together sent bliss rocketing through Mila’s body. It reminded her of the upcoming honeymoon and how Cyrus would claim her once and for all in his shifter way.

The night was sparkling and beautiful. The air surrounding them was magical. Although Mila enjoyed herself, she was happy when the party began to break up. Exhaustion hit her quickly after the last of the guests took their goodie bags and exited the building.

Mila and Cyrus then said goodbye to her family and their closest friends.

Cyrus gathered the group before they left. He handed each person a small velvet box. Each one held a trinket with individual birthstones and a special addition from Cyrus. “We wanted to thank you for being part of our special day. Mila helped with the birthdates for me, but I picked out the animals I thought suited you best.” Cyrus looked at Mila and chuckled. “I hope I don’t offend anyone with my choices.”

Everyone pulled out the trinkets. They were beautiful, and Mila could see the compassion in each person’s eyes.

When they dispersed, Cyrus pulled Mila onto the dance floor for one final dance with only the two of them. He playedLa Vie En Roseby Louis Armstrong, and they swayed lovingly in each other’s arms.

Mila soaked in the song, the quiet surrounding it, and her joy. She closed her eyes and put her head on Cyrus’s shoulder as he pressed her body against his. “Well, Mrs. Bechtel, are you happy? Any concerns? Questions? Feedback?”

Mila shook her head but didn’t answer. Instead, she let herself be hypnotized by the moment and ran her hand over the back of Cyrus’s tuxedo.

She pulled away and saw the sparkle in Cyrus’s eyes. “You look damn fine, all cleaned up.” Her voice dropped an octave. She could feel an expansion in his pants. She pressed her thigh against it and smiled with a mischievous glint in her eye.

“You look stunningly beautiful.” Cyrus leaned over and kissed the nape of Mila’s neck. The feather-like touch of his lips sent competing excitement through her body. Goosebumps rippled over her skin from the kisses Cyrus traced along her throat. And desire throbbed between her legs.
