“Where. Do. You. Belong. Emma?” Every word was punctuated by a harsh thrust of his hips, and I cried out, clutching at his arms.

“In your bed!” I gasped. “I belong in your bed!”

Angel smiled viciously. “That’s right,mi esposa,” he praised, and then brought his hand between my legs, touching where I needed him the most. Despite the harshness of his thrusts, his touch was gentle, and I couldn’t hold back anymore. Pleasure wracked through me, and I almost screamed as I came. Angel groaned, and he shoved his body into mine a half dozen more times as he found his own end.

He let my legs down and carefully extracted himself from me, but when he tried to shift so that he lay beside me, I looped my arms around him and tugged him down against me. “Hold me for a second,” I demanded.

Angel was stiff in my arms for a moment, but then he rolled us to the side so that I was more or less sprawled across his chest. “Are you…okay?” he asked after a moment.

I looked up at him, resting my chin on his chest. “Why? Are you worried about me?”

He rolled his eyes. “I just want to make sure you aren’t injured.”

His prickliness stung, but I tried to push it away. Instead, I focused on my body; everything still felt good, great even, but I could tell that I was going to be sore…and I would need to get cleaned up soon. “I’m okay,” I assured him.

Angel nodded. “Good.” His fingers brushed against my cheek. “We should shower.”

I had intended to do that alone, but the idea of Angel joining me wasn’t a terrible one. “We should,” I agreed, and he smiled.

God, but he had a killer smile.

CHAPTER12

Angel

Emma was dancing around a kitchen that looked like it had exploded, humming some song or other. I stood in the doorway, watching her. It was such a contradiction to the siren who had begged me to touch her just yesterday. This woman, in her tiny jean shorts and bright pink t-shirt, had an aura of innocence that made my hands ache to touch her, dirty her up again, but it also made me want to avoid her. She had no business in my world, or me in hers.

Instead of leaving her alone, I called out: “What are you making?”

Her head snapped up, and for a second, there was an edge in her eyes that hadn’t been there before. It was calculating. Maybe there was something more to her than I originally thought. “My mother showed me how to make brownies from scratch; I haven’t tried in years, but I woke up this morning and really wanted some.”

Lili liked brownies, I knew, but they usually came from her favorite bakery. I couldn’t remember if Lara ever baked them for us. “Did you have todestroythe kitchen in order to make these brownies?” I asked.

Emma glanced around at the chaos around her and shrugged. Her smile was bright but wicked. “I was having fun, dear,” she said.

It wasn’t the words, but her tone that challenged me. “Have you been bored,mi esposa?” I asked.

Her blue eyes went wide; her body jolted, like she felt like she had walked into a trap. The smile that curved my mouth was evil, and I knew it. “Bored is a loaded term,” she said in lieu of answering directly.

“You haven’t had any fun, though, right?”

Her cheeks darkened. “I thought we’d had some fun yesterday.”

I couldn’t argue with that. “But what if I prepared something a little different for us?” I asked.

“Different?” Intrigue and apprehension filtered across her face, and it was an intoxicating look on her.

Before I could explain, the oven timer went off, and Emma scrambled to grab an oven mitt. The smell of chocolate filled the kitchen, and while I normally wasn’t one for sweets, I could admit that they smelled good. She put the pan on the trivet, smiling. “I didn’t think they’d turn out,” she admitted, glancing at me. “I wasn’t lying when I said I normally need a recipe to make anything worth eating, but I did this from memory.” She looked at me. “Would you like to try one?”

I would, but I shook my head. “Later,” I said. “After.”

“After what?”

I smirked. “You’ll see.”

Emma squealed with delight when she saw the horses, both large and chocolate brown, waiting for us on the beach. The attendant standing between them smiled. “Your wife has a beautiful smile,señor,” the man told me.
