“Babe, it’s okay.” Cadence stands up and wraps her arms around me. “He’s fine. See?”

The announcer signals the end of the fight, declaringHulkthe winner, and Mason rolls onto his knees, crouching over and resting his forehead on the floor. Hulk puts his arms up in the air and receives a standing ovation from the crowd, then walks over to Mason, holding out his hand and helping him stand.

Mason staggers a little when he gets to his feet, andHulkwhispers something in his ear, then gives him a pat on the back. Mason smiles, and they bump fists. Turning to face the crowd, they both put their arms up and receive a deafening cheer from the crowd before exiting the ring.

Once the competition is finished.Cadence and I make our way into the lobby with the rest of the crowd to wait for Mason.

“Now, where is my Holy Man?” She scans the crowd with a determination that I’m finding comical. “I’m not leaving here until he gives me a blessing.”

Scanning the crowd for my Superman, my heart leaps out of my chest when I spot him walking toward us with James. He gives me a breathtaking smile, and I instantly make a mad dash in his direction.

My intoxicated limbs trip over each other in my desperate attempt to reach him and his brow draws in as he watches me quickly correct myself. As soon as I’m close enough, I leap into his arms and wrap my legs around his waist. He cradles my backside, holding me in place as I shower desperate kisses all over his face, inhaling the scent of soap and cologne from his freshly showered skin.

“Superman,” I croon, smacking a kiss to his lips, and he lets out a hiss. Pulling back, I notice the small cut on his lip from the fight and immediately panic. “Baby! I’m so sorry. I hurt you. Are you in pain? Oh my god! Do you have any more injuries? I was so scared,” I ramble, searching his face for any more injuries. I pepper his face with kisses again as he assures me he’s okay.

“Are you drunk?” he asks, and I let out a giggle.

“Drunk on you,” I purr, planting a gentle kiss on his lips, careful to avoid the cut this time, and he chuckles.

“Get a room,” Cadence groans as she strolls up. I look over at James, whose eyes are drinking in every inch of her body like a man dying of thirst.

“James, this is Ava,” Mason introduces us, and James gives me a friendly smile.

He is totally gorgeous—in a naughty kind of way. He’s the same height as Mason but bulkier in build. His brown hair is cut short, and with the tattoos, eyebrow piercing, and lip piercing, not to mention that mischievous twinkle in his hazel eyes, he is the epitome of a bad boy. And by the devilish smirk curled on his face as his eyes roam over Cadence, he knows it too.

“Hey,Holy Man.” I give him a sweet smile, and Cadence laughs, sending me into a fit of giggles.

“Holy Man?” James arches a brow, looking bemused.

“Your tattoo.” I point to it, and he lets out a deep chuckle, then turns his attention back to Cadence.

“And you are?” he asks with a sly grin.

“I’m eighteen.” She gives him a playful smile.

“Nice to meet you. I’m twenty-five.” He flirts back and holds out his hand. She shakes it and lets out a purr of approval.

“Did you drive?” Mason asks me, and I flash him a big smile.

“Sure did!” I chirp with enthusiasm, then frown when it dawns on me that I’m drunk. Shit! I’m an idiot. “Oh no! I can’t drive.”

“I can drive,” Cadence pipes up, then lets out a snort.

“Like hell you will,” Mason snaps at her, then turns his attention back to me. “How about you ride with me, baby, and James can take your car?”

“Sure.”

“Do you want to come to a party with us?” Cadence asks James, looking hopeful.

James shrugs. “Yeah, I’m down.”

“Awesome.” Cadence beams and grabs his arm, pulling him toward the exit. I wrap myself around Mason tighter as he follows them out into the parking lot.

“So, Holy Man,” Cadence muses, linking her arm through James’s as she walks beside him. “How many women have you baptized?”

I burst out laughing, which sets Cadence off too, and Mason rubs my back in soothing, circular motions, trying to calm me down. “Okay, Flower. I think we need to make a pit stop for coffee.”

“Excellent idea,” I cheer like it’s the best idea I’ve ever heard. “I want a cheeseburger too.”
