“You seem to know a lot about it.”

“I-I made it up.” My voice stammers as I continue to walk backward as he advances toward me.

“So you are creating your own porn now?” he teases, his eyes dancing with mischief. “Are you going to hum a tune when they fuck?”

“No.”

Stumbling on a stone underneath my foot, I quickly correct myself and look behind to check that the path is clear as I continue to make my retreat.

“Am I making you nervous, Flower?”

“No,” I lie.

The way he is prowling toward me, his eyes burning into mine with ravenous hunger, I’m not only nervous, but I’m also worried he will eat me alive.

“Then why are you running away from me?” he continues.

Desperate to regain my composure, I search through my scrambled mind for a way to turn the tables when an idea suddenly pops into my head. “Do you think you could catch me if I did?”

He stops, his eyes darkening with challenge. “I would catch you in less than five seconds.”

“Oh really?” I arch my brow, and he nods his head. “So you think you can run faster than me?”

“My legs are longer.”

“Let’s see you in action then,” I goad him. “Race you to the end of the dock?”

“You’re on.”

Flashing him a wink, I turn on my heel and start sprinting toward the dock.

I hear the thumping of his footsteps hitting the dirt, getting closer as he gains on me, and I start giggling in excitement.

Once I reach the dock, I look behind me and let out a squeal as he starts to close the distance. Pushing myself to the limit, I sprint toward the end, letting out another squeal when I feel his hand brush against my arm.

He grabs hold of me right before we reach the end but not noticing the puddle of water there, we both lose our footing and start sliding across the dock like ice.

Seeing the water fast approaching, panic sets in, and I grab hold of his sweater in a desperate attempt to gain traction.

My attempt was futile.

Not only do I fail to save myself, but I pull him right along with me as I go flying into the water.

The shock of the cold knocks the breath right out of me as I sink down, fully submerged. Kicking frantically, I break the surface with a loud gasp, Mason appearing right after me.

“Shit! It’s so fucking cold!” I screech.

“Never let go, Rose!” Mason taunts with a mocking laugh.

“Oh my god! This is so not funny. You won’t be laughing when your wang freezes and snaps clean off,” I bark and start swimming.

“I will be fine. The force is strong with my wang.”

I erupt with laughter, the ice-cold water constricting my chest and stealing my breath, hindering my ability to swim.

“D-don’t make me laugh,” I gasp as I struggle toward the dock. Mason comes up alongside me, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me toward the ladder.

We scramble onto the dock, escaping the icy water and onto dry land but feeling no relief from the chills raking through our bodies as we stand there looking like drowned rats.
