It was strange to think about Eden that way. She wasn’t his family. Hell, they had only known each other for just under two weeks now, but he felt this unexplainable draw to her. He really liked Eden and he wasn’t kidding when he told her that he didn’t want to travel home without her by his side. He didn’t want to do anything without her close by, and that had him a bit flustered. He’d never felt that way about anyone in his life, so this was unchartered waters for him. Bowie just hoped that Eden would want to help him navigate the way through this whole mess until he could figure it all out for himself.

Bowie had let Eden sleep in a bit while he made phone calls to set up the meeting with both Gluttony and Sloth. By the time they finally got showers and dressed, his car was at the airport waiting for them. “I’m suddenly feeling quite nervous,” Eden admitted. He was feeling the same way but admitting that wouldn’t help her to feel any better.

“There’s nothing for you to feel nervous about,” he assured. “I won’t let anyone hurt you, Eden.” He helped her into the backseat of the SUV, and she slid across the seat, giving him room to slide in next to her.

“I could have gone around,” he said.

“I know, but I don’t mind.” Eden patted the vacant seat next to her and he climbed into the backseat.

His driver, Sydney smiled back at him in the rearview mirror and Bowie nodded at him. “Where to, Mr. Wrath?” he asked.

“I texted you the address just now, Syd,” Bowie said. His driver looked it over and he could tell that Syd knew where he was asking to go.

“Got it,” Syd said, not questioning why Bowie was going to see Darcy. “I was sorry to hear about your father, Mr. Wrath,” Syd said.

“Thank you, and I thought that we were past these formalities, Syd,” Bowie reminded. “I told you to call me Bowie.”

“Right, but you’re the head of the Wrath Syndicate now, sir,” Syd said.

“That doesn’t change who I am, Syd. Please, feel free to call me Bowie still,” he said.

“Understood, Bowie. Just sit back and I’ll have you to your appointment shortly,” Syd promised. He put up the privacy partition and tugged Eden across the seat, practically onto his lap.

“Does your sister live close?” she asked.

“No,” he said, “she's about an hour from here. With traffic, it will be closer to an hour and a half.”

“Just enough time to take a nap,” she said around a yawn.

He chuckled, “A nap? Didn’t you just wake up?” he asked.

“I did, but when I travel by boat, I don’t get jet lag. Flying isn’t something that I get to do a lot of, in my line of work, and this jet lag is no joke.” Bowie had been well-traveled from a very young age and had learned how to deal with jet lag. Plus, it helped that he could survive on very little sleep.

Eden settled in against his chest as he wrapped his arm around her. “Is this okay?” she asked.

“It’s more than okay,” he whispered, kissing the top of her head. He could get used to holding her while she slept. He loved having her curled up next to him in bed every night and if Bowie had his way, he would have her there every night for the foreseeable future.

Bowie leaned back and closed his eyes knowing that he’d have to work on his plan to make Eden a permanent fixture in his life. He always loved a challenge, and she was going to give him one, he was sure of it. For now, he was going to just enjoy the ride.

Bowie woke up to Eden gently poking him. “I think that we’re here,” she squeaked. “You fell asleep too.”

“Shit,” he grumbled. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think that I was tired enough to sleep.”

“I guess that we were both tired,” she said. The car had stopped, and he looked out the window, recognizing his sister and Rock’s house. He had only been to her place once, but before Rock married Darcy, he had been to his house for meetings involving syndicate business.

“Yeah, we’re here,” he grumbled. He always thought that the Greed house looked like something out of a horror movie. He liked his sister’s touches around the place now. He noted that there were flowers planted around the front of the house and that she had even put a pretty wreath on the front door. That was Darcy though, always bringing sunshine into a dark, gloomy situation.

“Their house is great,” Eden said.

“You know, I don’t even know where you live,” Bowie admitted. He didn’t know much about Eden outside of her job and he wanted that to change.

“I don’t know where you live or anything, so don’t beat yourself up. I actually live about ten minutes from here, in a little studio apartment. It’s not much, but it’s mine,” she said.

“I live about thirty minutes from here,” he said. “I moved out of my father’s house about two years ago. I couldn’t live and work with the man. He drove me crazy when I did that, so I moved out.”

“I bet you live in a place a lot like this,” she said, looking his sister’s house over.
