We arrivedhome in West to having taken over the speculation hot seat from Maren’s corpse. Lemuria was full of whispers about two facts: I no longer looked human (my eyes—previously documented as brown—now being lilac), and there was onlyonething north of North, aside from an empty field and a remote dock.

Whispers and rumors about the various “incidents” and strange happenings that had previously been dismissed as “Helena is going to Helena” were revisited in precise detail. Firm speculation that I was—and always had been—a dragon emerged. That I’d been sired by an errant topside drake and through entropic collision Auryn had discovered me and awakened my dragon side.

And a few dragon historians pointed out thatifI was actually a dragon, there was onlyoneAffinity that had multiple consorts:

Chaos.

Maren’s frozen corpse could not withstand the fiery gossip surrounding#HelERIS,and themuchless pleasant#readySEThelena. As in Set, the Egyptian God of bad weather, disorder, and general shittiness who had killed and mutilated his own brother, Osiris, to usurp Osiris’ claim to power. By comparison, being the minor goddess of discord and shenanigans sounded like a compliment.

“They could speculate me into being a Chaos dragon if I wasn’t already,” I said as Akoni guided our little boat to its place on the slip. “They can also speculate all they damn well want. Just form an orderly line and step through, please and thank you.”

Keon squeezed my hand. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. We don’t know what’s on the other side of the Gate.”

True, but I’d keep my optimism for now. Sticking our head through the Gate to get a look around sure as hell beat banging on the front door while holleringanyone home?

We ignored the curious looks from the dragons we passed heading back up to the roost. Keon had already sent word to the Wyrms that we had been successful, so Dekka and Mahon greeted us with shock, disbelief, and another plan.

“You did it, little one?” Dekka asked when we came in the front door.

I grinned like an idiot. “We did! The Gate wasn’t damaged at all. It’s in perfect working order. It just has to be operated manually because the housing—that’s the structure you see around the Gate in images—isn’t there. All that’s there is the leystone. Which isn’t a stone at all, that’s just how we perceive it.”

I shut up since nobody was going to be interested in the specifics of the Gate, and most of what was in my head about Gates was a bunch of pictographs and diagrams and models and words that my human throat couldn’t shape anyway. Everyone just wanted to know the Gate worked and wasn’t going to go boom.

Gate worked. Gate would not go boom.

“And youcanopen the Gate on the other side?” Mahon asked.

“Who wants to go to Homeworld?” I asked cheerfully. Opening the other Gate would be at the edge of my current abilities, but that had never stopped me from doing anything.

Dekka actually smiled. A real smile. “Little one, you are anything but small. All of you are more determined than Lemuria will ever appreciate.”

“I’m not in it for the gratitude, Dekka,” I said. “Just the results.”

Auryn was summonedto the clinic to help a patient, and Akoni ducked off to the machine to make sure his assistants had managed without him. Keon and I found some food, and Hekon summoned us to his roost to congratulate us, then we finally got back to our roost and found a way to entertain ourselves.

I hadn’t felt so peaceful in a long, long time as I lay on my belly, sheets a tangled mess around my hips, and drifting on the ocean of endorphins and relief. We’d done it. The Gate could be opened. The leystone on the other side was still there. Given that the Gates had been in heavily populated areas on Homeworld, there had been a real risk that they’d have been destroyed in the war. But theyhadn’tbeen, and that was a good sign.

Time to go wash up. I was a mess between my thighs.

“Where are you going?” Keon moved behind me.

“To go wash?”

He pressed himself along my back, his rigid cock fitted against my ass. He kissed my neck and brushed his fingers down my thigh. “Once more.”

He slid closer and lifted my thigh back across his. His fingers grazed my wet folds, dipped inside me, found me still smeared with him. He didn’t tease me for long before he reached for his cock and guided it inside me from behind, then steadied my thigh over his as he swept his hips up to fill me.

I sighed contently and shuddered on a rictus of pleasure. There was just the sensation of his cock moving in and out, fucking me, while the air brushed my exposed (and neglected) clit. But that was part of the fun. Keon wasn’t big on the same games Auryn liked to play, but occasionally, when he decided to be a tiny bit selfish…

Akoni came around the curve of the room. He dropped his satchel.

I startled athisshock, but Keon didn’t miss a stroke, and instead raked his lips over my neck and pushed as deep as he could reach.

Akoni, wearing his trunks, stared, then came over, eyes riveted on our joined bodies. His cock shoved, instantly, against his shorts.

That was right: he’d never seen anyone else fuck me. Auryn and I hadn’t gotten around to that.
