“Theytauntedme with the impossible.” I hopped off the couch and went to Keon to greet him. I slid my arms around his neck. He tensed, flushing with embarrassment at being the center of attention. I whispered, “I always do this when they come home. You’re not special.”

He smiled in a small way.

I kissed him lightly, and my soul shivered with a sigh. “Are you really staying?”

“Yes.”

“Promise?”

“Yes.”

The single word hooked into my soul. Like stuck a claw right in me andhooked. I tried to say something witty and failed, and instead just kissed him again, hard, until the crush of emotions passed. He was here.

We could deal with the rest. We were all functional adults. We could have conversations and civilized discussions and find solutions.

He held me with both hands clasped behind the small of my back, my body firm against him in an almost uncomfortable arch, but I loved beingheld. Really held. By him, specifically.

“What are you working on?” he asked in a voice like velvet, but he glanced towards Auryn and Akoni.

“Magic training.” I opted to leave out how it was recess time since Keon had just arrived, and expecting him to jump into bed with us was probably a little extra. He’d made a quick exit when Akoni had shown up. “What areyouworking on? Anything you can share with the room?”

He released me, and I slipped away to lure him towards the couch and family unit. After a second of hesitation, he followed. “No. Nothing Dekka approved yet.”

I deposited myself back on the couch. Keon took up the spot on the coffee table directly across from the couch. He and Akoni exchanged a look. Not so long ago, they’d had a public fight over me and smashed up an eatery. Then Akoni held up his palm. “Recess is over, I suppose. Back to study. Concentrate.”

“If you can,” Auryn whispered. I shouldered him, he chuckled and ducked, brushing his lips over my spine. “Focus.”

“Drake, you are enjoying seeing how much you can touch her, aren’t you?” Akoni chided.

“I am.”

“Stop being a pest,” I said to Auryn.

He ducked to my other side and whispered, “But you’re so happy that he’s here. So complete.”

“Stop being rude,” I whispered back. “Hejustgot here. Don’t put him on the spot.”

“I assure you, my cousin has been on the spot many times.”

Keon chuckled. “That’s your problem, Auryn.”

I froze. So did Akoni.

Auryn ran his hands down my arms in a light caress that made our tethers quiver and tense with sweet pleasure/pain. “What problem is that?”

“You never enjoy the hunt and anticipation. You go straight for conquest.”

My pussy melted right through my dress.

Keon’s usual composed facade melted away as well, leaving me with the charming bum I’d met back in that dive bar, all bright blue eyes and a cocky smile at the corner of his lips.

“I can play with my preyafterit’s in my claws,” Auryn replied.

Keon gave me a look that turned me to pudding.

Akoni grinned. “Focus, little dark dove. Focus.”

“This isn’t fair.” How was I supposed to focusnow?
