Then run out of the kitchen and down the hall.

Chapter 6

Brie

Ifly down the hallway, letting my feet carry me away from Josh, Christian, and Michael. I don’t know where the hell I’m going, but I don’t stop until I throw myself into one of the master suites and lock the door behind me.

A beat later, it practically flies off the hinges from the force of them barreling into it. I gasp in surprise and back up until I’m pressed against the farthest wall. At first, they’re trying to get into the room, but then I hear their shoes scuffling on the marble floor and angry voices rising in pitch.

I run to the window and throw the curtains open, looking for a balcony. Of course, there isn’t one, because the rooms past the tenth floor don’t have them.

This apartment is so big, there’s got to be another door that leads to a different room.

I’m just about to open the closet door to check when the main one opens, and Josh comes tumbling in. His jacket is flecked with cream-colored plaster and splinters of wood. He’s breathing heavily, eyes wild as he slams the door shut.

“It’s just you and me now, baby,” he says manically, stalking over to me and grabbing me by the waist.

My heart races so fast it feels like it’ll burst out of my chest. “Where are the others?”

“I locked them out.”

“You just left them in the hall?”

He nods.

“Well, that wasn’t very—”

He silences me with a kiss. A long, passionate kiss so deep and thorough it leaves me breathless and weak in the knees. He kisses me like he needs oxygen and I’m his source. I moan into his mouth and lean against him, giving him all of my weight. Josh clings to me, gripping my hips even harder and locking me in place.

When he finally pulls away, we’re both gasping for breath.

“Fuck, this mouth of yours will be the death of me,” he murmurs against my lips before lifting me up and walking me over to the bed. I unwrap my legs from around his waist as he sets me down gently on the plush pillow top.

Looking up at him, my stomach starts fluttering violently. Josh stands over me in his rumpled suit, shirt collar slightly darker and wrinkled from where my release soaked into it.

He runs a hand through his long golden hair and glances at me curiously.

“Are you sure you’re ready for this, Brie?” he asks quietly.

“Technically, I never said I was ready,” I point out. “None of you really gave me a choice.”

“And yet you’re still here.”

My breathing quickens. I nod.

He takes a step back and gestures to the door. “If you want to leave, now’s your chance. If you don’t, I can only assume you want to stay, and I’ll take great pleasure in ravishing you.”

Oh, God.

For some reason, I don’t say anything. Ican’tsay anything, I’m so nervous.

He’s on me in an instant. Pushing me back on the bed, he uses his knee to push my legs apart and settle between them. His lips are soft and warm against mine. I can still faintly taste the cheeseburger and Coke on his lips from dinner. In the distance, I can hear banging coming from both the front part of the penthouse and the kitchen.

I pull away and look up at him. “I thought you said they were in the hall.”

He nods. “That would be correct.”

“So, why do I hear banging in the kitchen?”
