She gets out of bed and grabs a change of clothes from her closet, along with a towel. She steadies her breathing, opens her bedroom door, and turns towards the hall.

He’s at her desk, doing something on her laptop. He doesn’t even look up as she enters the hallway, his focus solely on the screen.

She takes the opportunity to take him in, giving her greedy eyes their fill of his side profile.

That jawline is ridiculous, she thinks to herself.

Why would the universe give someone likehimsuch devastating features? She never thought someone could look so attractive in stubble and messy hair, but he makes it look effortless instead of sloppy.

“Make yourself at home,” she mutters sarcastically as she glares at him.

He finally turns to look at her, smirking. “Not bad for a government issued living space,” he says. “Did you buy all this nice furniture on your Omega stipend?”

She sneers. “Stop using my stuff.”

But he still looks amused, as if he’s in on a joke she doesn’t understand. “Or what?”

He’s baiting her, and she refuses to start an argument that ends withthere’s nothing you can do about it.Instead, her gaze focuses on the kitchen counter and she squints.

“Is that—” she steps out of the hallway to take a step closer. “Did you break myphone?”

The device is in pieces, as if he painstakingly took it apart.

“I told you I disabled it,” he says patiently.

“That phone wasexpensive,” she snarls at him in disbelief.

He merely shrugs. “I’m sure Lincoln City will pay for another one.”

He turns back to her laptop, and she wants to scream.

She thinks she can see the tiniest bit of his lip quirk up in amusement.

It just makes her angrier.

“You’re an asshole,” she states.

He sighs and spins around in the chair. “Sweetheart, if you wanted my attention, all you had to do was ask.”

Her mouth falls open in disbelief and her cheeks burn.

She hurries back into the bathroom and slams the door behind her, locking it for good measure.

Is it safe to take a shower with him here? Probably not, and she knows Ava sure as hell wouldn’t do it.

But she hasn’t been making the best decisions lately—she might as well make another poor choice.

Maybe the water will help clear her head.

She steps under the stream and does her best to not think about the Alpha in the other room.

“If you wanted my attention, all you had to do was ask.”

The memory of his voice sends shivers down her spine as she washes herself, deeply inhaling the fragrance of her body wash to drown out his tempting masculine scent.

She already has the horrible urge to be near him, and her inner Omega is suddenly very chatty.

Stay near Alpha!
