“Well then,” he says, amused. “You better hope I come back in one piece.” He winks at her for good measure, and she growls.

It makes him smile. He leans back over her, dodging her sloppy kick, and presses his lips against her hair. “Those suppressants don’t seem to be working, either,” he murmurs against her scalp, and she stills. “I’m going to grab some things to help you as best I can.”

She remains silent, and he reluctantly pulls away from her.

“Be good,” he says. “And remember, you have to open this door for me if you ever want to be untied.”

She continues to glare at him and mutters something under her breath as he shuts the door behind him.

It’sa risk going out during the day, but the supermarket is less than a block from Hazel’s apartment.

As soon as he’s down the hallway of her complex, he switches on his communication device to reach Draven’s channel.

“What’s the status?” he asks quietly, hoping his friend answers.

Hell, he hopes his friend is still alive.

The comm crackles to life almost immediately.

“We’re out,” he says. “I’m already in the city, along with a few others. The rest have left altogether.”

Oh,shit.

He wishes he had access to the international news stations to see what they’re saying. But of course, the city’s internet blocks it.

“Any news on the Beta army?”

“Last I checked, still no orders to approach. I think there might be someone on the inside. Or maybe they’re just planning on bombing the shit out of the city.”

His stomach churns. He hopes there are no plans to destroy the area yet.

“Look out for a shooter. Someone took aim at me,” he adds, hoping Draven is able to stay safe.

“Will do. Hope we all survive this, brother.”

“Me too.”

He ends the connection and heads towards the market, his hood over his head. He moves as stealthily as possible, checking around for any possible overhead drones or random people on rooftops.

This wasn’t the best idea, but he had to get out of that apartment, and he knows Hazel needs supplies.

Also, he’s in desperate need of new clothes now that his two pairs of pants are stained with slick.

He’s still technically on schedule. He has another two days until he sets his plan in motion.

The power to the store is out, and the sliding doors are stuck open, giving him the perfect opportunity.

He fills a duffel bag with clothes, water, and Heat supplies. His hands tremble slightly as he places the heating pad and bath accessories into the duffel.

He hasno ideawhat he’s doing. The only information he had was from what Reid snuck him, and even then, and he’s not sure if Hazel needs all this stuff.

Neither of them has been through this.

He knowshowto fuck; he’s not a prude, but he’s never experienced being inside an Omega.

He silently curses Lincoln City and their twisted tactics of keeping his kind away from their mates.
