Her cunt clenches him in a vice-like grip, and he can’t remember the last time he was this at peace.

Probably never.

She quiets the chaos in his mind and keeps him tethered to her. He basks in her scent, her essence, and the goodness that isAudrey.

He’ll never be enough for her, but he’ll be damned if he lets a better man have her, ever.

“You’re mine,” he whispers in her ear as she hums delightedly. She wears a lazy smile, and her eyes are bright and beautiful as she gazes at him contently. He rolls his hips slightly, eliciting a gasp and a slight fluttering of her cunt on his length.

“Alpha,” she whispers, closing her eyes.

He’s at peace.

He’s content to stay on top of her, but he wants her to be as comfortable as possible, so he rolls them onto their sides. He pulls her into his arms and her head rests against his chest, and she sighs happily.

Audrey nuzzles into him and presses a kiss to his chest.

A strong purr rumbles in his chest, and they both drift to sleep.

He wakes up first.

Her scent is just as cloying, and her skin is flushed and damp with sweat as he watches her eyelids flutter.

She’s dreaming.

He hopes it’s about him, but he also hopes it’s not a nightmare.

He has a feeling that after her Heat is over, they’ll be back to where they were before.

So, he savors the moment while he can and uses the rhythm of her heartbeat to ground himself.

He presses a gentle kiss to her lips, then to each of her cheeks.

She still doesn’t stir, but her scent intensifies.

He needs to start preparing.

He slips out of her as gently as he can, and she whimpers in her sleep at the loss of contact.

After pulling on a pair of sweatpants from his duffel bag, he opens the bedroom door and is greeted by a black void of fur.

“Hey, Pearl,” he murmurs. The cat yowls and rubs her head against his ankle, and he goes to find where Audrey packed the cat food.

Of course, his Omega would take her cat with her.

From what he’s gathered, Pearl and Mindy are the only social interactions Audrey has had since quitting her job at the lab.

All of her contacts on her phone were friendly acquaintances, and now she can’t even reach out to them anymore.

She’s had no one except for her cat and sister.

And now, him.

He feeds Pearl, refills her water bowl, and cleans up her litter box before gathering supplies. The house Audrey rented is stocked with the basics, including bottled water and a full pantry. By the time he’s finished preparing her meal, a panicked cry comes from the other side of the house.

“Alpha?”
