“It didn’t take convincing,” he chuckles. “We talked for a few minutes. She was happy for you.”
Her head swims with confusion. “That doesn’t sound like my sister.”
What would make Mindy so amicable?
She grabs her phone off the nightstand and reads the newest text from her sister.

“Where is she now?” Audrey asks.
“At a hotel,” he says, placing a kiss into her hair. “She’s staying there until your Heat ends. Then we’ll plan the next steps together.”
She sighs in relief, placing her phone back on the nightstand.
But a wave of fatigue washes over her with the effort, and she has to fight to stay awake.
“Sleep,” Julian whispers next to her. “I’ll be here when you wake up.”
“Of course you will,” she replies. “I wouldn’t expect otherwise.”
His hand finds hers, and she rests her head on his chest until she drifts off.

He can’t stop watchingher sleep. The sun creeps in through the window, illuminating her features, and he commits them to memory.
