I feel sick. He really thinks I’m only here because of the money. I have no doubt that’s what drew my mum to Tommy, but that’s not me.

“I don’t want their money,” I say quietly, unable to put any volume into my voice as I’m shaking so hard. Maximus looks over at me and sees me wiping a tear from my eye. I see the anger rising on his face as he turns back to his dad.

“You call yourself a father? Where the fuck have you been all our lives? If anyone is my father, it’s Christian. He’s the one who brought us up. Protected us when bastards you had ripped off came looking for payment. Everything we have is because of him and you know it. You are just a worthless piece of shit.”

As Maximus shouts at his father, I notice the security guard whisper something to Layton and rush out of the door that leads to the garage. Please let one of the others come back, they need to stop Maximus from killing his father. I go to step forward in the hope of getting him to calm down but Layton stops me.

“Stay back,” he orders as he holds an arm out in front of me.

“Maximus, I did everything for my boys, I’m trying to protect you now from her and the lies she’s feeding you.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Maximus roars as he punches Tommy again.

“Maximus enough!”

We all turn to see Christian and Jason standing by the garage door.

“He fucking assaulted Jasmine!” Maximus yells.

“So, we hear. I will deal with him,” Christian says in that calm but dangerous tone as Jason glares at his father who’s gone pale. “Get him in my car and stay there until I return,” Christian orders Jason, who grabs their father and starts to haul him out of the kitchen. Tommy instantly starts to struggle against his son. Jason slams him face-first into a wall and holds his arms behind his back.

“Fucking keep fighting me, I dare you. I’m looking for a reason to end you,” Jason growls. Tommy stares at me with pure hatred in his eyes and I feel myself sinking back to get away from him.

“You fucking did this you little bitch, you and your slut mother are nothing but trash,” Tommy growls at me as Jason cuts him off by slamming him into the wall again.

“Maximus get Jasmine out of here,” Christian orders as Jason whispers something in Tommy’s ear before pulling him away from the wall and towards the garage as he starts fighting again.

Maximus walks up to me as Layton steps out of the way. He pulls me to his side and guides me out of the kitchen. As we get to the door Christian is there waiting for us.

“Did he hurt you?” he asks as he cups my cheek. I shake my head.

“Not really.”

“The fact that he touched you is enough. I’m going to see to it he never touches you again.” Christian promises before kissing me on the lips.

“Are you going to kill him?” I ask nervously, Christian shakes his head before looking up at Maximus.

“He is a low-life piece of shit, but he is still our father.” Christian looks back at me and runs a hand over my head. “I won’t have you scared in our own home, he will learn a lesson today,” he whispers before standing tall. “Maximus take her to the sitting room; Jason will be there in a minute.”

Maximus guides me out of the kitchen as instructed.

“Come on Shorty, let’s get you a strong drink.”

Jasmine

Maximus guides me into the sitting room and sits me on a sofa before heading over to the mini bar. I’m shaking uncontrollably and blinking back the tears as my throat burns. I force myself to swallow whilst clenching my jaw, trying not to cry. The way Tommy looked at me was like how my mother did the other day. Like I was the worst person in the world. Is that how the guys will come to see me in the end? Tommy’s right, everyone does leave me, it’s only a matter of time until the guys do too.

“Are you okay?” Jason demands as he rushes into the room and squats down in front of me cupping my face. One look at his worried grey eyes and my last straw of strength snaps as I burst into tears. “Oh Jazzy,” Jason coos scooping me up and sitting on the sofa so I can curl up on his lap. I cling to his shirt as I cry into his chest. Jason runs a hand over my head and holds me tightly against him as he attempts to soothe me.

“I don’t care if he is our father, I want the bastard to pay,” Maximus growls passing a drink to Jason who offers it to me.

“He’s your blood,” I whisper as I wipe my face before taking a sip. I shudder as the whiskey burns my throat, and settles in my stomach helping me to relax a little in Jasons arms.

“He might be our blood, but he’s never been a father,” Jason replies as he hooks a finger under my chin and forces me to look at him. “Did he hurt you?”

I shake my head, but Jason gives me that look and I know he doesn’t believe me.
