I open my eyes and look at Sean who’s looking nowhere but at me. “We don’t care what he did, you are still our girl.Rememberwhat I told you.”

I look at him for a moment confused. He nods once and it comes back to me. I nod slightly and take a calming breath. I let my body go limp and for the briefest second Hudson grabs me to stop me from falling, but as he does the knife moves from my throat and I’m ready for it. I grab his hand with the knife and spin myself underneath it, twisting his arm and causing the hand to open. The knife starts to fall but I catch it with my free hand and stab it into his side as he goes down screaming. I move out of the way quickly as a shot rings out and I see Hudsons eyes still trained on me, but a bullet hole in his head. Sean is beside me in seconds as I turn around and see all guns now trained on my mum, who has a gun in her hand, pointed straight at Christian.

Christian

“Lower your weapons,” I order. I risk a glance at Jasmine and see her looking terrified in Seans arms, her sight set on her mother. She’s safe that’s all that matters. I lower my gun to the floor and put my hands up whilst looking at Carol and the gun trained on me. I don’t care if she shoots me now, I won’t take her from Jasmine. I pull the mask from my face and put my hand back up.

“I don’t know what your role is in this Carol, but I won’t shoot you. You are family.” If Jasmine marries one of us, that will make Carol our mother-in-law. That’s why I’ve been filling her home with food and sending cleaners in. I want her to survive and realise her daughter needs her more than she’s willing to admit.

I watch as Carols face changes and she bursts out laughing.

“You are no family of mine. You destroyed my family. You took from me and I can’t wait to see how yourfamilyreact when I take you from them.”

“You don’t want to shoot me, Carol. You don’t want another person’s death on your conscious,” I point out as I take a step away from my brothers. If she does shoot me, I don’t want to risk them getting hit if the bullet passes through me. Carol cocks her head and I notice her eyes are dead of all emotion.

“You think I give a shit about any of your lives?” her gun flies to the side where Layton has Taylor and a shot rings out before I can even take a step forward the gun is trained on me again. I hear Jasmine scream, but I can’t risk taking my eyes off the gun.

“Fuck Taylor’s dead and Layton’s down,” Terry calls behind me.

“Nobody moves or he’s next!” Carol shouts.

“Don’t do this Mum. I know you are mad, but please stop,” Jasmine yells. I can hear her pain in her voice. There’s so much I want to say to her. If only I had more time.

“Baby, it’s okay. Whatever happens, know I love you,” I say calmly as I take a step forward. Wanting to put more distance between me and my brothers.

“You fucking bastard,” Carol snarls as I see her finger twitch on the trigger, I close my eyes as the shot sounds and I wait for the pain, for anything, but I feel nothing.

I can hear my brothers cursing and Jasmine screaming. My baby girl sounds like she is in so much pain.

“Get her out of here!” Jason yells as someone grabs me. I open my eyes and realise I’m still standing. I look at Carol who’s on the floor staring up at the ceiling. What the fuck?I can hear Jasmine screaming hysterically as she’s carried away.

“Christian come on we need to burn the place and get her out of here she is hysterical.” I turn to look at Jason and frown confused. I was so sure I was about to die.

“What happened?” I ask looking down at myself and seeing no signs of bullet holes. Jason grabs my shoulder and looks at me.

“Jasmine took Seans gun and shot her.”

I look around at the four of us sitting or standing in various locations outside of Jasmines room. All feeling helpless to do anything to help our woman inside. We have no idea what’s going on in there as Jasmine asked us to leave. Mrs Brown offered to help her and she thankfully agreed.

Sean had gotten Jasmine out of the house, as we sent the clean-up crew in. We still have no clue what happened in that place, how Jasmine got hold of Tommy’s phone, why Carol was there or why Taylor took her. The only thing we know for certain is Jasmine shot her mum to save Christian, and for that, I will be forever in her debt.

Watching my brother look down the barrel of a gun, will be something I will never forget. He was ready to die to protect us all. I noticed the way he kept moving to put some distance between himself and us.

Everything had happened so fast after we received Jasmines message. We knew we only had a small window of time to get to her as we didn’t know what she had done to get hold of Tommys phone. If anyone realised, she had contacted us they could move her or kill her. It wasn’t a risk we were willing to take. Luckily the phone stayed on and we were able to track it thanks to an old tracking device we had installed years ago. Tommy never has been very good at keeping up to date with technology, he finds a phone he likes and sticks with it. There had been no sign of him at the house, the area was searched after we left, but nobody else was discovered.

As soon as we tracked the phone and found the location we bundled into the cars and vans with as many guys as we could get at short notice. We couldn’t risk calling other people in as we weren’t sure who we could trust. Christian took the risk of calling McIntire who sent ten men. I have no idea how much or what his assistance is going to cost us, but I know it was worth it as we got Jasmine back.

One good thing about us being in the weapons trade is that we have some of the best equipment on the market. We were able to get to the site and use drones to have a look around the premises and through windows to locate Jasmine. We knew where she was and worked out the quickest route to her using the blueprints of the house Terry found online. The rest was straightforward forward distract and kill as many people as possible to get to where our girl was being held. They had no idea we had found them until we stormed the place.

Seeing her held there at knifepoint, with Hudsons hands on her. Knowing that he’s hurt her, touched her, I’d never felt rage like it. But she was so brave and strong. She managed to get herself free and even stab him before I put a bullet through his head. I’m in awe of this woman. I would have loved to cause him endless pain, to have dragged out his suffering, but I couldn't risk him hurting her again. Jasmine has been through enough the main objective was achieved and she is free from him.

I look around at my brothers, all of us still in our black gear, and exhausted. Maximus is sitting outside her room leaning back against the wall. Sean is next to him with his head in his hands. He held her all the way home as she cried into his chest. As much as we all wanted to be the ones she clung to, we left Sean to comfort her. The last thing we needed was for us to crowd her when she is so overwhelmed, as can be expected after everything she has been through

I watch Christian pacing back and forth outside her bedroom door, looking up at the slightest sound that comes from within. The Doctor had been here when we got back and went into the bedroom with Mrs Brown. Jasmine had let Sean carry her into her room and then asked us all quietly to leave, we wanted to tell her no, that we weren’t letting her out of our sight but we also understood. We’ve all taken a life before and we know the first is tough to come back from.
