Page 3 of Fierce Seas

Testing men was a game she played.

At times he’d laughed, other times he’d scowled and shot her a scolding look, and twice he’d threatened to put her over his knee.

She hadn’t believed him for a second.

She’d been wrong.

Not only had he made good on his threat and left her ass sore, her face humiliatingly red, and her pulse racing, he was terminating her charter.

As she stared out at the choppy gray seas and even grayer skies, she saw the wind picking up, but she wasn’t worried about the conditions. She trusted Captain Scott’s seamanship. She was far more concerned about the man who had sent her to scout the islands. He’d be furious if she told them she’d had to stop her work prematurely. If she couldn’t persuade Captain Scott to continue the trip, she’d have to hang out on the island until it was time to leave, then lie to her demanding boss when she returned to L.A.

As the miles sailed by, she watched the skilled captain tame the huge sails, apparently unruffled by the squall. When the engine coughed and sputtered, he knew exactly what he was doing and how to do it. Though she found herself wondering if he’d be as accomplished in bed, the thought was fleeting. She had other problems to think about.

Her life was difficult.

Sometimes felt impossible.

And was decidedly dangerous.

After being in such a warm, tranquil environment with the captivating captain, she didn’t want to leave the yacht and return to Los Angeles. Just the thought sent a shudder through her body, but she was in too deep, and she’d started something she was determined to finish. Taking a long deep breath and closing her eyes, she prayed for answers.

“We made it.” Scott’s clear, self-assured voice echoed through the salon.

Opening her eyes and staring across at him, she discovered he was drenched.

“I’ll refund the remaining four days.”

“No, you don’t have to,” she said softly, rising to her feet. “Scott, I’m sorry about before. I acted like an idiot. You’ve been great. This trip has been…” Suddenly caught up in an unexpected swell of emotion, her voice trailed off.

“I appreciate the apology, but—”

“Please don’t cancel the rest of the trip. I promise I’ll be a model passenger.”

He paused. “Uh, I’m afraid it’s not that simple. The engine needs work.”

“How long will it take?” she asked, sensing a ray of hope.

“That’s hard to say. I need a part, and it will take a few days to get here. Once I start work there’s a chance I might find another issue. It will be at least a week before I’ll be taking her out again.”

“I can’t stay that long,” she mumbled, “but, uh, would it be possible to hang out on the boat?”

His eyes narrowed. “You’re a brat-and-a-half,” he murmured, stepping closer. “Why would I let you do that?”

“I’ll behave.”

“You swear?” he growled, suddenly sliding his hands into her hair. His grip tightened.

She caught her breath. “What are you—?”

But his lips cut her off with a crushing kiss.

Marching back into the weather and trying to ignore his raging erection, Scott had focused on navigating the rough seas and sailing the boat safely home. But when the danger had passed, and he’d returned to the salon, Beth had meekly apologized and begged him to let her stay.

His manhood surging to life for a second time, he’d fisted her hair and consumed her lips. Now sweeping her up, he hastily carried her into his cabin, tossed her on the bed, and swiftly tore off her clothes. Quickly peeling off his wet sweatshirt and shorts, he roughly clasped her perfect breasts, lowered his lips to her puckered nipples, and hungrily drew them into his mouth.

“You’re so fucking wet,” he grunted, moving his fingers into her pussy.

She squirmed against his hand.
