“But, we’re here now and we’re okay.”

“We’re great, pretty lady.”

“Your confession?” I asked as we pulled out of the parking lot and into traffic.

“This isn’t my confession, but I wrote my shit, too. The day that I bought the ring, I had plenty of time on my hands and started them in my notes. The morning of your birthday, after I called you, I finished them. They were the easiest words I’ve ever written and I’m no writer by far.”

“We’ve both been waiting for this day,” I sighed with a smile on my face.

“It looks like it.”

“Your confession.” I reminded him.

“I opened the envelope when I got in the house this morning.”

“Stop playing,” I yelled, turning in his direction.

“Nah. I did.”

“Okay, so what did it say?”

Suddenly, I wanted to know just as bad as him, obviously. I didn’t have the guts to open the envelope, but I was happy that he had.

“Baby, what did it say?” I asked again after he didn’t answer.

“You have to give me another one,” he responded instead of answering the question.

“I’ll give you ten more if you want. Just tell me about this one.”

“For real? Cause, I was thinking six, but ten more sounds like a bet.”

“Ledge!”

“We’ve got another princess brewing.”

“Oh, God has jokes,” I chortled, my heart swelling with pride, “Another princess.”

“Another one.”

“I wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t even prepare any girl names.”

“I kind of did, though,” Ledge said, looking over at me.

“Really?”

“Yeah.”

“Like a list or just a name?”

“A name.”

“Okay. So, tell me.”

“Lillian.”

“Lillian? I like Lillian.”

“Yeah? You do?”
