I blinked, and all of a sudden, he was up in my face. “Pay attention,” he jeered, “I’m going to teach you a lesson.”

I moved back, but not fast enough to dodge his blow.

I choked when his fist connected with my stomach. Air rushed out of me in a harsh woosh, my vision dimming around the edges. Muscle memory still forced me to move; even with my vision swimming and my lungs burning, I dodged the second hit.

He laughed. “That’show you throw a punch.”

I gasped, sucking air into my lungs. My gut burned from the impact, but I couldn’t focus on that right now.

Sunny just kept coming. I barely landed two more blows on him before his booted foot caught me in the ribs, and I folded sideways before dropping to my knees.

He’d definitely broken a rib. Blood filled my mouth, and I coughed before spitting the mouthful over the ropes. My head pulsed from his assault on my head before this.

“Five minutes!”

Had it only been five minutes? Oh, God. This was going to hurt like hell later.

I stumbled to my feet. Pain laced up my side and right into the back of my throat.

I hissed in a breath as Sunny came at me again. It was clear that he was toying with me, putting on a show for his classmates to see. Flexing thathewas the best.

He didn’t waiver. It was almost like he couldn’t get tired.

I just barely dodged a kick to my face. Even though I was slowing down and my head was bleeding, if I got in close enough, I could land my own blows. I hit him so many times in the kidneys, spine, chin, and back of his neck that no matter how much stamina he had, there was no way he wasn’t feeling the effects by now.

He was too big to take down without a little finesse. I was strong, but Sunny and I might be evenly matched, and rather than get stuck in a stalemate, it was better to weaken him strategically.

I slammed my elbow into his ribs, then tried to hobble away from him.

Aria!

Before I could get far, Sunny snatched my ponytail, dragging me back into his knee. I yelped, flailing as he continued to drag me around the ring by my ponytail.

Sariel’s rage filtered down the bond, feeding my own. I twirled, wrapping my hair around his fist again, but at least I was facing him now.

He jammed his huge fist into my stomach—I felt my ribs crack beneath it. I didn’t have much longer until I was out.

It was time to fight dirty.

I slammed my boot down on his foot, lifting one of my arms at the same time to push outward hard. He stumbled away, releasing his grip.

I didn’t know where my final surge of energy came from, but I grabbed his arm, tugged, and pulled him into my knee, connecting it with his groin.

He groaned, dropping to his knees.

We were eye-level now. I cupped his face, then hauled it down as I slammed my knee upwards, catching him between the eyes.

After that, I dropped to my ass on the ground, my body pulsing with pain.

Sunny groaned. I watched him wobble to his feet. Christ, the bastard just wouldn’t stay down.

“Ten minutes!”

Tap Marilyn in!

I ignored Sariel, my eyes glued to Sunny as he swayed towards me.

Don’t ignore me, Aria!
