“People are still going to talk…”

He just shrugs. “Let them. See what I care.” Returning his attention to the bottles of nail polish in front of us, he selects a sparkly gold color. “This one, I think—the color of champions.”

Finally.I take the bottle from him and gesture for him to scoot closer to the coffee table. “Come over here. I don’t want to get nail polish on Shay and Jamie’s carpet.”

Finn rolls his eyes. “Pretty sure there are worse stains on this carpet if the glitter in their hair on Christmas Day was anything to go by.” He nonetheless gets to his knees and shuffles closer to the coffee table before sitting back down and planting his hands on the glass surface.

I eye the glass hesitantly; something tells me Shay and Jamie wouldn’t appreciate us getting gold nail polish on their expensive-looking coffee table either. Well, actually Jamie might not mind the sparkles but I’m still not going to risk it. There are a couple magazines stacked at the other end of the coffee table, so I get up and retrieve the one at the top, which turns out to be a bridal magazine.

I’m going to go ahead and assume that Shay and Jamie are more interested in looking at things like venues and cakes and stuff like that, rather than all the pretty dresses. I, on the other hand, am suddenly captivated by the gorgeous gown on the cover. It’s a very Grace Kelly-esque mermaid-style gown with a sweetheart neckline that I would lookamazingin.

“Oh wow, this dress is gorgeous,” I gush, holding the magazine up for Finn to see.

He suddenly looks like I’ve just told him I’m secretly a foreign spy with a passion for throwing rocks at birds. “Ahh…okay, I love you and everything, but we’ve only been together a week so how about we just cool our jets?”

I let out a burst of laughter as I spy the freaked-out-as-fuck expression Finn’s wearing. “Calm down, Mr. Commitment-phobe, I wasn’t hinting.” I shove the magazine under his splayed hands and then kneel down on the other side of the coffee table, ready to paint Finn’s nails. “Although I would like to point out that Declan and Heath were only together for about two weeks when Declan proposed.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not Declan,” Finn grumbles.

I just smile and twist the top off the nail polish, sweeping away the excess on the rim of the bottle before painting the nail on Finn’s forefinger. Seriously, I have no idea how a career athlete has such nice hands, but there you go.

“Speaking of Dec and Heath,” I murmur, “How’s the new arrival doing?”

“Oh, shit!” Finn cries, throwing his hands up and causing me to streak gold all down his finger and over the magazine.Thank godI thought to put it down.

“Finn!”

He cringes. “Fuck, sorry. I just realized we had a family Zoom chat last night to meet the baby, and I missed it becausesomeonedistracted me.” He sends me a pointed look as he once again splays his fingers over the magazine.

“Hey, I can’t be held responsible for your inability to keep your hands off me.” I get back to the work of painting his nails. “Maybe you should go visit them before you go home tomorrow?”

He nods. “Yeah, good idea.”

I finish painting Finn’s nails and then lean over to gently blow over the wet polish. Gold was definitely the right choice; his nails looks sexy as hell.

“Oh, god…”

I snap my eyes up, surprised to find him wearing a familiar turned on expression. “What?”

“Are you kidding me? Do you even know how hot you look doing that?”

I let out a soft chuckle before narrowing my eyes in warning. “Don’t even think about it, You arenottouching me with wet nail polish.”

Finn grunts in obvious frustration. “Jesus Christ. How freakin’ long do they take to dry?”

“Hmm…you should probably give it about half an hour before you try doing anything that might involve…friction,” I say with a smirk, then go back to blowing on his nails.

“Fucking hell, you’re killing me here.”

“Maybe next time you can come to my nails place with me and get SNS,” I suggest.

Finn’s brows draw together in curiosity. “What’s SNS?”

I consider the question for a moment, working out how best to explain the process. “Umm…it’s really the kind of thing you need to see to understand. But it dries instantly and makes your nails way stronger, and also the color doesn’t chip. See.” I hold out my own fingers, showing off my hot pink nails. “And you can even get tips put on if you want a bit of length.”

Finn’s lets out a soft laugh that lights up his face. “One thing at a time, babe.”
